Chapter 35

Piper POV

The pegasi arrived quickly.
Sophia and Winn were heading off to Camp, while we were headed the opposite way. We wished them good luck and went into our hotel room to pack our things. Percy waited outside for us.
I saw a glass decoration piece in the hotel lobby. I remembered Jason.
"Hey, Halyptia?" I asked, biting my lip. "Do I have time for one Iris-Message?"
"Of course," She replied, smiling knowingly. "I'll get our stuff and meet you outside."
"Thanks," I replied as she hurried to our rooms.
I grabbed the decoration piece and headed for the bathroom. I locked the door behind me.
Rainbows were dancing across the walls. I placed it near some light, so that a rainbow could be produced mid-air. It wasn't a very good rainbow, but it would work.
"Oh Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, show me Jason Grace at Camp Jupiter." I spoke, hoping I said it correctly, as I flipped a coin into it.
An image appeared in front of me. I could see Jason staring at the stars.
I was about to speak, when Reyna appeared.
"Are you okay?" Reyna asked with a concerned expression.
"Piper left for a quest." He replied, like that was all to explain. Reyna nodded.
"She'll be back soon, I'm sure of it." Reyna reassured. I had always been jealous of Reyna's closeness with Jason, but she had accepted that I was with him now.
"I'm sorry.." Jason apologised out of nowhere. His voice cracked. Reyna looked confused.
"For what?" She asked worriedly.
"Even after I remembered our past, I still chose to ignore it." Jason replied, his voice heavy with sorrow. I felt a lump in my throat.
"Well, that's the past now. It's gone." Reyna replied. She turned away to hide her tears. "I have to go," She said, getting up to leave. But as she was leaving, Jason followed her and grabbed her arm. Reyna turned around, caught off guard.
"I know I can't change what I did," Jason teared up, "..but can you forgive me?"
"I..-" Reyna began, but Jason cut her off. He kissed her.
Shock and sorrow poured down on me. I couldn't say anything, I couldn't run away. I was silently crying.
Reyna pulled away, shaking and crying. She ran away.
Jason brokedown into tears. He fell onto his knees, with his head in his hands.
I was broken.
I waved the Iris-Message away and began to cry hard. I didn't know what to do.
After a few minutes, I decided to wash my face and meet everyone outside.
I would just complete this quest, go home, and forget everything.
I would start my life again.

Halyptia POV

We were waiting outside.
Percy and I were ready to go, and were just waiting for Piper.
"She's just Iris-Messaging someone." I explained.
"Jason?" He asked. I nodded.
"Probably." I replied.
"I need to call Annabeth too." He told me, with a distant look in his eyes.
Love was strange.
I never really understood it. Probably because I didn't ever experience love. I mean, we love our friends and family, but I've never fallen in love.
Why do they even say 'to fall' in love?
Is Love a hole which Aphrodite kicks you down?
Who knows.

"Halyptia?" Percy asked, bringing me back to Earth.
"Yeah?" I replied. The wind was blowing lightly and the stars had begun to appear.
"I've been wanting to know why you didn't pick Penelope, instead of me," He revealed randomly. "I mean, all the signs were in her favour. She came to Camp that night. She was claimed just after the prophecy. Piper even told me that Apollo himself came down to help her. Then why did you pick me?"
"Well..." I began, nervously, "Firstly, Penelope had been injured so badly, that I couldn't possibly have asked her to come on the quest. You, I assume, were more experienced in quests. Thirdly, I didn't know anything about Penelope, and I was advised to pick people with good intentions. I know she is probably important, but the main reason I didn't pick her was, as I said, she was majorly injured. If not for the wounds, I might've actually picked her instead." I explained, as nicely as possible.
Percy just nodded. His face was caked in realization.
"That makes sense now." He said, still thinking. I laughed at his seriousness, and he started laughing too.
When we finished, we realized that Piper still hadn't arrived.
"I'll go check," I said, but then we saw Piper coming towards us.
"Nevermind," I laughed.
"Are we ready to go?!" Piper asked cheerfully. Her eyes looked quite sore and her face looked wet.
"Are you okay?" I asked with concern."How was the Iris-Message?"
"It was great!" She replied, "I just washed my face to keep myself awake."
"Let's get going then!" Percy grinned, so we hopped on to our pegasi. "To Sirius, Blackjack." He said, and the horse whinnied and we flew off into the sky.
We were successful so far.

Chapter 36

Halyptia POV

I was so bored.
We had been flying for hours. Percy told us we were near Tennessee, but I have no idea how he knew that.
It started to rain heavily, and it felt like it was slashing my face. I was freezing now, and soaking wet. Piper and Percy also looked cold.
Piper had put her arms around herself to stay warm. Percy was just shivering, making no attempt to retain his body heat.
I loved the rain. It was beautiful. It made me cool down.
The only thing that bothered me was the numbing wind. Sometimes it got so cold, that my ears and feet ached. I hated it.
Why was it so windy anyway?
I could hear thunder rolling in the sky.
Black clouds were appearing.
I looked around us. The rest of the area was fine.
Then I saw them.
Storm Spirits.
Annabeth had given me a book called, "Magical Creatures and Monsters: How to Handle Them"
I couldn't remember how to handle Storm Spirits.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. I scolded myself.
"Uh, guys?" I called to Percy and Piper, "What do we do when Storm Spirits follow us?"
They both looked around. Percy uncapped his sword and Piper got her dagger out.
Our pegasi looked unstable.
I decided to take out my sword too. I twisted the diamond on my belt and it transformed.
"We'll have to fight while flying!" Percy yelled over the winds. "I'll take the the front, Halyptia take the middle, and Piper take the end." He instructed.
We all took our positions.
"Go!" Percy yelled, and we each charged.
I could see three of them. Handsome evil faces, swirling black vapour bodies, and black smoky wings.
The one in the middle spoke up,
"I'll fight her first," He told his comrades. His eyes were like electrical sparks in a living storm cloud.
"Bring it on! I'll destroy you in any order you like!" I laughed psychotically, waving my sword in the air as my pegasus swayed.
Wow. I really am tired.
I slashed at him with my sword, but it went right through his face.
I was frustrated now.
"YOU STUPID AIR HEAD!" I screamed angrily.
What!? I told you I needed sleep.
The Storm Spirit cackled, as a lightning bolt whip appeared in his hand.
"You wimp! Use a mortal weapon, if you dare!" I taunted.
I was actually just frightened of the whip.
To my relief, he exchanged it for a silver sword.
"Aaah!" I yelled, as I slashed him all over the place. I quickly pressed my bracelet, and my shield shot forth. The three spikes, that protruded from the shield's center, caused the Spirit to be hesitant.
I whacked him with all my might, using my shield and sword.
He slashed my face with his sword, and I could feel the blood flowing down my face with the rain.
Searing pain spread over my cheek.
I hit him center stomach and, finally, he disintegrated into a golden powder.
The other two Storm Spirits snarled at me.
Oh, great.
This time they did use the lightning whips, to my despair.
Suddenley, I got a crazy idea.
I protected myself with the shield, and started flying on my pegasus in random patterns.
They lashed the whips at me quicker, so I moved around them in circles, more quickly.
It was really hectic, and I could've killed myself, but it worked.
One Spirit accidentally hit the other Storm Spirit. There was a burst of golden dust again.
Before the Storm Spirit could get over the shock, I jabbed my shield into his back.
The spikes from the shield went straight through him, and golden ichor dripped off them.
After one look of shock from the spirit, he burst into dust too.
Thank goodness, I thought with a sigh of relief. My shoulders relaxed, my frowning expression became calmed.
I was now completely shattered.
I looked around for Piper and Percy, and I saw Percy take one last hit at a Spirit. The Storm Spirit disintegrated. Piper had slashes on her arms and face. So did Percy.
I looked down and realized that my arms were also covered with deep gashes. I remembered the one on my cheek.
"Let's rest for tonight." I said to them.
The wind had stopped blowing so hard, and it was only raining lightly. As we descended on our pegasi, I thought of all the other difficulties on our way, and whether we would be as lucky.
We might not survive tommorrow.
