Chapter 53
Halyptia POV
Last night we all talked for hours.
Penelope told us what had happened at Camp. Apparently they received two prophecies.
That couldn't be good.
We decided that we would sleep until morning and then we would set off to find Artemis.
When everyone fell asleep in their respective tents, I went to see Annabeth.
Her eyes were red and sore. I could tell that she had been crying.
I sat down next to her.
"I don't understand.." Annabeth had said. "Why do I always lose Percy?"
I could tell that she wasn't referring to Percy being kidnapped or lost. She must've been talking about something in the past.
I had decided not to pry.
"It'll be okay," I reassured. "Why don't I take watch, and you can try to get some sleep?"
Annabeth had tried to protest, but she eventually agreed and walked to her tent.
I sat down and watched the stars, deep in thought.
I wonder if I can complete this quest in time..
I guess I fell asleep after an hour.
Now it was morning. The sun was high in the sky.
I walked to the tents and checked up on everyone.
They were all asleep.
Maybe I should just contact Artemis myself... everyone looks so exhausted. I thought to myself.
Zach suddenly snorted in his sleep. I started giggling and headed towards the buildings nearby.
I could see a supermarket in the distance. I sprinted towards it.
When I reached the store, I ran inside. There were rows and rows of house appliances and toys.
I searched the whole store for half an hour, but I couldn't find what I was looking for.
Then, as I was leaving, I saw something glint in the sunlight.
It was an aisle of glassware.
I scanned the aisle for the most prism-like glass I could find. All I found was a very thick-based glass.
It'll have to do..
I took it to the ladies' bathroom and locked myself in a cubicle.
I pointed the glass towards the light, but no rainbow appeared. Then, I remembered that I had a torch in my bag.
I pulled it out of my bag, and turned it on. I shone the light at an angle towards the base of the glass.
The rainbow that was produced was very faded.
I kept pointing it at various angles, until the rainbow became more clear.
When I was finally satisfied, I tossed a Golden Drachma into it and chanted the phrase.
"Artemis." I said.
The Golden Drachma disappeared and an image rippled in front of me.
As expected, it was Artemis, but she seemed to be travelling at super speed.
"Artemis!" I called. "It's me! Halyptia!"
Artemis turned towards my voice and her eyes fell upon me.
"How dare you?!" Artemis replied angrily.
I bagan to panic.
