I hope you've had a great week! :D
I have been reading over my first chapters, and I've realized that my writing style has changed a lot. I'm gonna start trying to go back to that style again. :P

Chapter 56

Halyptia POV

My ears were hurting so much that they went numb. 
I glanced at Zach. He was smiling, as mischievous as always. Then I had that feeling again. I had been having it for a while now. The feeling like I was falling from a great height. 
But this time the feeling was stronger.
Almost unbearable. 
I wanted it to stop.
"Halyptia..?" Zach said.
I froze.
A chill went up my spine. My mind went blank. 
I started to panic.
I understood now. I know why I was feeling strange. I had probably known for quite some time, but the realization came surging to me.
A memory was tugging at the back of my mind. It was something important, but I couldn't remember what it was.
"..Yes?" I replied to Zach.
"Um... I think we're in for some trouble." He explained nervously, pointing in front of us.
I looked at Zach with confusion. I turned to the place he was pointing at.
Our pegasi slowed down and flew at a steady speed.
There was nothing there. I blinked a couple of times, to be sure.
Just as I was about to tell Zach he was seeing things, I saw it.
Two birds were flying towards us in the distant night sky. They looked unusually large.
"Are those..?" Zach said, wide-eyed.
"Uh.. I think so.." I replied.
They were peacocks.
Now, normally I would be happy to see such beautiful creatures on a horrid quest like this. But this wasn't 'normally'. Peacocks were the symbol of Hera. The very lady whose prisoners I had set free.
As the peacocks came closer, their features became more prominent. The birds were as large as an elephant. I couldn't believe my eyes.
Their beaks were made of gold and their eyes glowed dark blue.
I quickly twisted my diamond belt buckle and pressed my braclet. My Imperial Gold sheild sprang forth and I got my sword ready in my hand.
The pegasi that we sat on were unfazed, as though this happened to them everyday.
"I thought peacocks couldn't fly?" Zach announced, staring open-mouthed at the extremely large birds.
"I thought peacocks were a little smaller in real life." I replied, looking at the peacocks uneasily. "I guess we were both wrong."
Then, the peacocks attacked.
If you were watching this from afar, you probably would've been staring at the scene in awe, rather than coming to our aid. Why? Because even the way these peacocks attacked us was enchanting.
The birds moved their blue/green necks gracefully and slowly. They moved their faces towards us and gave us each a peck on the cheek. Considering the fact that their beaks were made of gold, this really hurt.
I swung my sword hard at the bird closest to me, but it simply turned around. I was confused at first, but when my sword came into contact with it's tail, it clanged against it and bounced off harmlessly.
I glanced at Zach. His situation was worse.
The peacock next to him was repeately pecking his cheeks slowly. His cheeks had several cuts and were bleeding, like he was crying tears of blood. The problem was he only had a dagger to protect himself, but it was useless against the peacock's protected body. At least I had got mine to turn around, but it was facing me again now. It went in for another bite and I felt some of my skin being plucked away. I gasped from the pain and a single tear escaped from my right eye.
For some reason, this confused the peacock. It tilted it's head and came in for a closer look. When it saw my wounded cheeks, it's eyes started flowing abundantly with tears. It was crying.
I turned to Zach again, and his peacock was also crying. Zach gave me a look of befuddlement, and I probably had the same expression.
Why on Earth were these birds crying, if they were intentionally harming us?
Suddenly, the peacock near me lunged at my face and repeatedly pecked my cheeks until I was screaming endlessly. It continued shedding tears as I experienced the worst pain in my life. It was like someone had sliced off my cheek and poured lemon juice on the wound.
I could hear Zach yelling out too.
I tried thrashing around and striking my sword at the peacock's neck, but nothing worked. I thought I would slowly die from the torture.
I was getting ready to accept my end, but then the peacocks stopped. This time, they didn't inspect our wounds. They began to glow in a bright gold light, and they disappeared.
As the light diminished, it revealed a woman.
She had long chocolate brown hair woven into a waterfall braid with gold ribbons. The lady wore a simple white dress that rippled, like oil on water, when she moved. She was tall, graceful and very beautiful. At the same time, she seemed quite intimidating, with brown eyes that were glazed with power.
"Hera." I said, immediately recognising her from when I was being questioned in the Throne Room on Olympus.
"Halyptia Melpomene and Zachary Romero." Hera stated calmly. She turned her gaze to me, staring directly into my eyes. "I hope you have learned your lesson."
She didn't explain what the lesson was, but I already knew: Never release Hera's peacock prisoners or she'll send gigantic peacocks to come and kiss you until you think you'll die.
I nodded, clenching my jaw. My cheeks throbbed and my eyes stung from the immense pain. Even nodding gave me misery. The cold wind, that pummelled our faces, helped numb down the tormenting injury.
"What are you talking about? And why did you attack us?! We've never done anything to you!" Zach yelled, clearly in agony. He must've been bewildered.
Hera ignored Zach completely and kept her gaze on me.
"This was your punishment. Be thankful that it was minuscule compared to the punishments I have given in the past. I have forgiven you, but let this be a reminder to you of the consequences of crossing an Immortal." Hera warned. She regarded us both, one last time. "Until we meet again." And with that, Hera started glowing as we averted our eyes, and disappeared.
Until we meet again. I didn't like the way she had said that. But I decided to worry about that later.
Zach was looking at me for an explanation. So I explained what had happened to me when Zeus had kidnapped me. As I explained everything, Zach listened carefully, absorbing all the information. He was a good listener.
When I finished, there was a long moment of silence. We had been scanning the cities below, as our pegasi flew further north. There was still no sign of the Hind.
"I'm sorry." I said, as the wind continued to billow arround us.
"For what?" Zach asked, as his eyes searched the ground.
"Well, because of me, you were attacked. You got punished for something you didn't do." I replied regretfully. I knew how torturous that had felt. It wasn't fair that Zach had to go through that. I could still feel the pain on my cheeks.
"Hey," Zach said, "You did a noble act by setting those Wind Nymphs free. You don't need to apologize for anything." Then he smiled his mischievous smile, and I felt better.
I wonder how the others are doing...

RANDOM SHARING TIME:

So, I'm shopping for food and whatnot.
I go to the eggs section and instantly pick free range. Then I see an unusual egg carton and glimpse a picture of pastel blue eggs.
Naturally blue. No joke.

No way. They're lying. I think to myself, opening the carton.
...and behold! Blue eggs sitting right in front of me!
I'm then jumping up and down in the middle of the store.
"LOOK! BLUE EGGS!" I say to mother.
"No, it can't be." She replies with uncertainty.
I show her the blue eggs and presto; we bought the blue eggs along with the normal ones.

umm i dont see blue eggs
WHAT are u talking about? those eggs are white with a blue stamp on top!

It's just my bad camera quality, but they are definately not white, they are blue. :P
