Chapter 46

Penelope POV

It was morning.
We had woken up at 7:30am. After we grabbed our things and got ready for the quest, we headed to breakfast. We had discussed who would accompany us, and had come to a final decision.
Annabeth and I stood near Chiron's table.
As everyone came to the dining pavilion, they gave us puzzled looks.
"Where are you two going?" A bulky daughter of Ares grunted.
"On a quest." Annabeth replied, her tone indicating that no further questions should be asked.
The girl gave us a look, but walked away. Everyone sat down, but kept glancing at us, whispering.
Then, Chiron trotted towards us.
He came to us and spoke quietly.
"Have you girls chosen the third quester?" Chiron asked.
We nodded in reply.
"Good." He said, smiling. "Attention everyone!" Chiron exclaimed.
Everyone stopped whispering and looked at him intently. "Annabeth and Penelope have been issued a private quest. They are to choose the third quester and leave immediately."
Chiron nodded at us.
Everyone was staring.
"Penelope and I.. after a lengthy discussion, have decided that.. Leo Valdez will join us." Annabeth stated.
There was a long pause.
Most people looked surprised. Some nodded in agreement.
I didn't know what Leo looked like, so I waited for him to come forward.
"Me?!" Someone asked, perplexed.
It was Leo. He was just like Annabeth described him.
Curly black hair, dark brown eyes. A cheerful, babyish face. A mischievous smile. He was very handsome.
"Yes, you." Annabeth replied, rolling her eyes.
"Now that that's done, eat your breakfast, and then meet me at Thalia's Tree." Chiron ordered.
So, after we finished, we met up at the top of Half Blood Hill.
We were surprised to find three bronze pegasi waiting for us.
Automatons.
"The Athena and Hephaestus campers have been working on these three for quite some time." Someone said. It was Chiron.
"They just finished the last corrections yesterday, so I decided you could use them for your quest, to reach the others quickly. These pegasi fly abnormally fast." He explained.
Leo just looked perplexed.
"Will someone at least explain the quest?" He asked.
Chiron nodded.
So, he explained everything. Everything we could possibly want to or need to know about the quest and Halyptia.
There was a moments silence.
I decided to break it.
"Let's go then!" I said, enthusiastically.
Annabeth nodded and climbed onto a pegasus, and I did the same.
Leo still looked as confused as ever, but he copied too.

We were racing towards the direction of the Brightest Star, Sirius.
"How much longer?!" I shouted over the suffocating wind.
It had been about an hour.
"A couple more hours!" Annabeth yelled back. "Halyptia still has eight days to complete her quest!"
We definately have enough time then.
"What will we do when we get there?!" Leo yelled.
"We'll just have to join their quest!" I replied, but I was a bit unsure too.
"Penelope is right! That's what we're supposed to do!" Annabeth replied, confidently.
I wonder if Halyptia and the others have reached Nyx yet...

Sorry for the rushed chapter! :P
The next chapter is really important, so it will be very long.
I'll be posting every Saturday now. :D
