We walked to the door. Outside Clarisse and her friends were sprawled in the mud,
Clarisse growled.
and a bunch of other campers had gathered around to gawk.
“I was one of them,” Travis beamed, as Conner nodded.
Clarisse’s hair was flattened across her face. Her camouflage jacket was sopping and she smelled like sewage.
“I know the smell,” Leo nodded.
Everyone except Piper and Jason raised an eyebrow at him.
“Trust me, you’ll sleep wherever you can when you’re on the run,” Leo admitted.
“True,” Percy agreed.
Annabeth looked at Percy in confusion.
“I was travelling for at least four months before I actually made it to Camp Jupiter,” Percy said. “Leo’s right, you sleep where you can.”
Leo gasped. “You said I was right!”
Percy rolled his eyes and gestured for them to continue reading.
She gave a look of absolute hatred.
“Now the glare only says hatred,” Percy pointed out.
Some people looked shocked. Clarisse wouldn’t meet anyone’s eyes.
“You are dead, new boy. You are totally dead.”
“I find it funny how Clarisse never actually got her revenge on him,” Nico said, chuckling.
“You want me to get revenge on you!” Clarisse threatened.
“No, I’m good,” Nico smiled sheepishly.
“I thought so!”
I probably should have let it go,
“But you didn’t,” Annabeth smiled at him.
Percy smiled sheepishly.
But I said, “You want to gargle with toilet water again, Clarisse? Close your mouth.”
Clarisse was fuming.
“You better run, Prissy!”
Clarisse got up and charged to where Percy was sitting. Percy stood up to meet her. When she was a couple of feet from him, Percy jumped and managed to do a summersault of her head, landing perfectly back on his feet behind her. Meanwhile Clarisse couldn’t stop fast enough so she ran into the couch.
Everyone laughed at Clarisse as she tumbled over the couch and landed on the floor.
“Clarisse fall,” Tyson laughed, clapping his hands.
Chris had to literally drag Clarisse back to her seat.
Her friends had to hold her back. They dragged her toward cabin five, while the other campers made was to avoid her flailing feet.
“Not all of us,” Conner sounded embarrassed. “You kicked me in the nose.”
Clarisse smiled proudly.
Annabeth started at me.
“Were you taken back by his handsomeness already?” Travis teased.
Annabeth glared at him, but she was also blushing slightly.
I couldn’t tell whether she was just grossed out or angry at me for dousing her.
“A little bit of both,” Annabeth admitted.
“Sorry,” Percy whispered in Annabeth’s ear, causing her to shiver.
Reyna caught this exchange and glared at the daughter of Athena.
“What?” I demanded. “What are you thinking?” “I’m thinking,” she said, “that I want you on my team for capture the flag.”
“It’s annoying how they’ve only been on separate teams during capture the flag once,” Will said.
“Really?” Rachel said. “What happened?”
“The bronze dragon,” Percy said, while Annabeth nodded.
Everyone looked confused, except for Leo who was thinking of Festus.
“You’ll find out later,” Percy said simply.
“Next chapter,” Rachel announced taking the book. “My Dinner Goes Up In Smoke.”
Rachel raised an eyebrow but began reading anyway
Word of the bathroom incident spread immediately. Wherever I went, campers pointed at me and murmured something about toilet water. Or maybe they were staring at Annabeth who was still pretty much dripping wet.
“It was both,” Jake said.
She showed me a few more places: the metal shop
“Yeah!” Leo said happily, high-fiving Jake.
(where kids were forging their own swords), the arts-and-crafts room
“Blah-ha-ha,” Grover bleated smiling.
(where satyrs were sandblasting a giant marble statue of a goat-man), and the climbing wall, which consisted of two facing walls that shook violently, dropping boulders, sprayed lava, and clashed together if you didn’t get to the top fast enough.
“Not a problem for me,” Leo smirked.
Finally we returned to the canoeing lake, where the trail led back to the cabins. “I’ve got training to do,” Annabeth said flatly. “Dinner’s at seven-thirty. Just follow your cabin to the mess hall.” “Annabeth, I’m sorry about the toilets.” “Whatever.” “It wasn’t my fault.”
“Yeah, right,” Frank grinned at his friend.
Nico frowned when he saw Hazel kissing Frank on the cheek.
He better be good to her or else he’ll be eating skeletons, Nico thought.
She looked at me skeptically, and I realized it was my fault. I’d made water shoot out of the bathroom fixtures. I didn’t understand how. But the toilets had responded to me. I had become one with the plumbing.
Everyone cracked up.
“You became one with the plumbing, seriously?” Chris laughed.
Everyone only laughed harder when Percy began blushing.
“You need to talk to the Oracle,” Annabeth said.
The camp Half-Blood campers, except for Jason, Piper, and Leo, shivered remembering the mummy.
“Oh, she wasn’t that bad,” Rachel defended.
“To you, glowing eyes,” Nico said. “You didn’t see her walking in the forest.”
The campers who were there flinched in remembrance, except for Percy and Thalia who were grinning remembering their fight.
“Who?”
“The glowing eyes mummy who told prophecies,” Nico said slowly as if he were talking to a child.
“I know that,” Percy said glaring at Nico.
The son of Hades didn’t want to admit it but he was scared of Percy glares.
“Not who. What. The Oracle. I’ll ask Chiron.”
“Um, is anyone else confused?” Leo asked.
Frank, Hazel, Reyna, Tyson, Piper, and Jason all raised their hands.
I stared into the lake, wishing somebody would give me a straight answer for once.
“Keep wishing,” Jake said, remembering when he first arrived to camp.
I wasn’t expecting anybody to be looking back at me from the bottom, so my heart skipped a beat when I noticed two teenage girls sitting cross-legged at the base of the pier, about twenty feet below. They wore blue jeans and shimmering green T-shirts, and their brown hair floated loose around their shoulders minnows darted in and out. They smiled and waved as if I were a long-lost friend.
“Technically, you were,” Reyna said.
“I know,” Percy admitted.
I didn’t know what else to do. I waved back. “Don’t encourage them,” Annabeth warned. “Naiads are terrible flirts.”
“They really are,” Grover said looking embarrassed.
“Naiads,” I repeated, feeling completely overwhelmed. “That’s it. I want to go home now.”
Travis grinned and held his hand out to Conner, who gave him five drachmas.
Annabeth frowned. “Don’t you get it, Percy? You are home. This is the only safe place on earth for kids like us.”
“Not the only safe place,” Percy said looking at the Romans.
“You mean mentally disturbed kids?”
“Hey!” All of the Greeks shouted, looking at the son of Poseidon.
“How about we take a break?” Reyna suggested.
All of the boys headed straight for the fridge, as the girls stayed and talked.

"I mean not human
"Got that right," snorted Thalia.
"Hey," Percy yelled, "I'm half human."
"To a certain point," Thalia shot back.
"Hey, you two, can we go on with the story," Leo asked.
"Fine," They both grumbled.
Not totally human, anyway. Half-human," "Half-human and half-what?"
"Gods, you're dense," Clarisse stated.
"Yes, but that's why he has me to make up for him," Annabeth replied.
"Seriously," Percy shouted, "is everyone against me."
"I'm not," Reyna said, while batting her eyelashes at him. An action not going unnoticed by Annabeth. She glared at Reyna, who glared right back.
"Ok," Percy said, trying to cut the tension, "Let's keep reading.
I think you know."
"I wouldn't be too sure about that," Thalia smirked.
"Oh, come on," Percy yelled, "I'm not that dumb."
"Maybe not that dumb, but dumb," Thalia replied.
"Okay, that is it, bring it on, Pinecone Face," Percy shouted.
"You want to finish what happen in the woods, Kelp Head," Thalia yelled, winds were starting to come into the room.
"The Oracle was the only thing that saved your ass last time," Percy screamed. Everyone could hear the sink and toilet gurgling.
"Um, guys," Leo interupted.
"WHAT," They yelled, glaring at him with their death glares.
Leo cowered, "How about we all stop fighting."
"Not this time," Percy shouted. Wind was whipping at everybody's hair. The sinks and toilet spraying water up into hair creating mist, that's getting blown in everyone's faces. A white flash appeared in the middle of the floor.
"Oh come," Percy screamed. When the flash cleared, standing there was....

Mom?” Annabeth said in surprise.
Sure enough, Lady Athena was standing in front of the demigod’s argument.
“What are you doing here?” Annabeth asked.
“I have come to stop this idiotic fight,” Athena said, mostly looking at Percy when she said ‘idiotic’. “The Fates did not send you these books to make arguments, they sent you them to make you wiser.” She glanced at Percy. “Or hopefully make a certain someone break up with someone else.”
“Mom!” Annabeth said, not sounding happy with her.
“Fine, I’m leaving but no more fighting,” Athena ordered before disappearing in a white light.
When the light died down everyone opened their eyes.
“I thought your mom was fine with us dating,” Percy said, sitting next to his girlfriend.
“She was but I guess your disappearing for eight months ticked her off,” Annabeth shrugged.
“Oh, really?” Percy groaned. “Curse you, Hera.”
Lightning boomed overhead.
“Oh, shut up,” Percy grumbled crossing his arms.
All of the demigods stared astonished at the fact that Percy hadn’t been killed yet.
“How are you alive?” Frank asked his best friend.
“I don’t really know,” Percy admitted. He turned to Thalia. “Rain check?”
“You’re on,” Thalia grinned.
“Okay,” Rachel said, clearing her throat awkwardly. “Let’s continue, shall we?”
I didn’t want to admit it, but I was afraid I did. I felt a tingling in my limbs, a sensation I sometimes felt when my mom talked about my dad.
A lot of the demigods grew silent thinking about their godly parent.
“God,” I said. “Half-god.”
“Wow,” Nico said, sounding shocked. “He guessed right.”
“There’s a first,” Thalia agreed.
“You guys are so mean to me,” Percy said, with a hand over his heart.
“Blame yourself,” Nico said. “You provide us with way to much ammo.”
Thalia nodded in agreement.
“You two just wait,” Percy smiled devilishly at them.
The cousins gulped worried about what he had on them.
Annabeth nodded. “Your father isn’t dead, Percy. He’s one of the Olympians.”
“Usually someone would think of an Olympian athlete when you say that,” Rachel said.
Nico saddened a little, remembering his sister’s reaction.
“That’s . . . crazy.”
“Yet true,” Katie grinned.
“Is it?
“Uh-oh, Annabeth’s gonna show off her knowledge!” Travis shrieked. “If you don’t want to learn something, plug your ears.”
Chris, Conner, Nico and Leo all obeyed Travis. It may be hard for the five of them to have kids in the future.
What’s the most common thing gods did in the old stories? They ran around falling in love with humans and having kids with them. Do you think they’ve changed their in the last few millennia?”
“It would be very difficult,” Hazel agreed.
“But those are just-”I almost said myth again. Then I remembered Chiron’s warning that in two thousand years, I might be considered a myth. “but if all the kids here are half-gods-”
“Here it comes,” Clarisse smirked.
“Demigods,” Annabeth said. “That’s the official term. Or half-bloods.”
“I can’t believe what you’re about to ask,” Annabeth whispered so only Percy could hear.
Percy put his arm around Annabeth’s waist and slid her closer to him. When she was close enough, Percy whispered, “Sorry,” before given her comforting kisses on her neck.
“Okay, okay, break it up you two,” Travis joked to the couple as Conner wolf-whistled.
“Yeah,” Leo agreed, pointing behind him. “There are bedrooms right through there.”
The couple turned deep red as everyone else just laughed at them, except for Reyna who was glaring at the daughter of Athena.
When the laughter finally died down, Percy asked, “Can we just continue?”
“Sure go right ahead,” Rachel waved her hand towards Annabeth.
Percy glared at his friend. “I meant the book.”
“Mmmhmmm,” Rachel grinned.
“Then who’s your dad?”
“Had to go straight to the hard subject, huh Perce,” Nico said.
Percy shrugged in response.
Her hands tightened around the pier railing. I got the feeling I’d trespassed on a sensitive subject.
“No duh!” Thalia glared at her cousin.
“My dad is a professor at West Point,” she said. “I haven’t seen him since I was very small. He teaches American History.” “He’s human.” “What? You assume it has to be a male god who finds a human female attractive? How sexist is that?”
“Yeah, Percy,” Katie fake huffed before cracking a smile.
“You know I didn’t mean it like that,” Percy said to his girlfriend.
“I know,” Annabeth grinned, kissing Percy on the cheek.
“Who’s your mom, then?” “Cabin six.”
“Yeah, like he knows what that’s supposed to be,” Nico chuckled.
Annabeth straightened.
“She is so-o-o proud,” Thalia whispered slyly to Percy.
Percy chuckled. He honestly couldn’t agree more.
“Athena. Goddess of wisdom and battle.”
“Like none of us couldn't figure that out,” Clarisse grumbled, rolling her eyes.
Okay, I thought. Why not?
Frank raised an eyebrow at his friend as if saying ‘Seriously’.
“I know,” Percy mumbled. “I’m slow.”
“And my dad?”
“You expected me to know that,” Annabeth said.
“You had a guess, didn’t you?” Percy smirked knowing he was right.
Annabeth sighed not answering.
“Undetermined,” Annabeth said, “like I told you before. Nobody knows.” “Except my mother. She knew.” “Maybe not, Percy. Gods don’t always reveal their identities.” “My dad would have. He loved her.”
“Who was right?” Percy asked Annabeth, grinning.
Annabeth just shook her head, refusing to admit it.
Percy nudged her. “Come on, admit it. You know you want to.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Annabeth refused.
“Don’t make me do it, Annabeth,” Percy smiled evilly. “Don’t make me. . . .” Percy whispered the last part.
Annabeth’s eyes widened. “You wouldn’t.”
Percy’s eyes flashed with mischief. He tackled Annabeth and with him on top of her held her down before ticking her. Annabeth immediately began to laugh. Her eyes even began to water.
A lot of the Camp Half-Blood campers smiled. It was nice to see Annabeth happy again after so long of her being sad.
“Ok-kay,” Annabeth surrendered panting. “I-I . . . give.”
Percy grinned, removing his fingers from Annabeth’s tickle spot. “Say it.”
“You were right,” Annabeth mumbled quietly.
Percy shook his head. “Ah-uh. Louder.”
Annabeth groaned. “You were right,” she said louder.
Percy smiled, climbing off of her. “See, now was that so hard.”
“Very,” Annabeth grumbled, sitting up
Reyna glared at Annabeth as Rachel continued to read.
Annabeth gave me a cautious look. She didn’t want to burst my bubble.
“Don’t say it,” Annabeth grumbled to her smirking boyfriend.
“Maybe you’re right. Maybe he’ll send a sign. That’s the only way to know for sure: your father has to send you a sign claiming you as his son. Sometimes it happens.” “You mean sometimes it doesn’t?”
Chris looked down remembering the unloved feeling he used to have. Clarisse put her arm around her boyfriend to comfort him. Chris smiled at her before giving her a kiss.
Annabeth ran her palm along the rail. “The gods are busy. They have a lot of kids
“More then we know,” Jake added, looking at the Romans.
and they don’t always . . . Well, sometimes they don’t care about us, Percy. They ignore us.”
Thalia sighed remembering the feeling of abandonment. Percy put his arm around her while Nico squeezed her hand. Thalia smiled at her cousins.
I thought about some of the kids I’d seen in the Hermes cabin, teenagers who looked sullen and depressed, as if they were waiting for a call that would never come. I’d known kids like that at Yancy Academy, shuffled off to boarding school by rich parents who didn’t have time to deal with them. But gods should behave better.
“You’d think,” Clarisse scoffed.
“So I’m stuck here,” I said. “That’s it? For the rest of my life?”
“Not quite,” Grover said knowingly.
“It depends,” Annabeth said. “Some campers only stay the summer. If you’re a child of Aphrodite or Demeter, you’re probably not a real powerful force.
Some of the demigods snickered, as Piper and Katie glared at Annabeth.
The monsters might ignore you, so you can get by with a few months of summer training and live in the mortal world the rest of the year. But for some of us, it’s too dangerous to leave. We’re year-rounders. In the mortal world, we attract monsters. They sense us. They come to challenge us. Most of the time, they’ll ignore us until we’re old enough to cause trouble-about ten or eleven years old, but after that, most demigods either make their way here, or they get killed off.
The demigods frowned remembering the half-bloods who didn’t make it to either of the camps.
A few manage to survive in the outside world and become famous. Believe me, if I told you the names, you’d know them. Some don’t even realize they’re demigods. But very, few are like that.”
“Name some in ten seconds,” Leo challenged, starting his wristwatch, “and . . . go!”
“Louis and Clarke, Queen Elizabeth I, Abraham Lincoln, William Shakespeare, Martin Luther King Jr, Napoleon, Christopher Columbus, Albert Einstein, Joan Rivers and Chuck Norris,” Annabeth finished rattling as Leo pressed the button.
“Five seconds,” Leo said, sounding impressed.
Annabeth smiled proudly.
“So monsters can’t get in here?”
“Sometimes they can,” Percy commented, thinking of Luke sending that hellhound.
Annabeth shook her head. “Not unless they’re intentionally stocked in the woods or specially summoned by somebody on the inside.”
A few heads were turned to the sons of Hermes.
“Why would anybody want to summon a monster?”
Travis, Conner, and Chris grinned mischievously.
“Practice fights. Practical jokes.” “Practical jokes?” “The point is, the borders are sealed to keep mortals and monsters out. From the outside, mortals look into the valley and see nothing unusual, just a strawberry farm.”
“Thanks to me,” Thalia said uncomfortable.
“So . . . you’re a year-rounder?” Annabeth nodded. From under the collar of her T-shirt she pulled a leather necklace with five clay beads of different colors. It was just like Luke’s, except Annabeth’s also had a big gold ring strung on it, like a college ring.
Annabeth was fiddling with her necklace as they read.
“I’ve been here since I was seven,” she said. “Every August, on the last day of summer session, you get a bead for surviving another year. I’ve been here longer than most of the counselors, and they’re all in college.”
“He’s gonna ask it,” Thalia said, looking at Percy.
“Really? What’s with you always assuming the worst of me?” Percy asked, glaring back at his cousin.
“Because I know you,” Thalia smirked. “I know what idiotic thing you’re gonna do next.”
Percy opened his mouth to retort, but was interrupted by Jason.
“How about we just read,” he suggested.
“Fine,” Thalia and Percy mumbled in unison.

“Why did you come so young?”
Thalia burst out laughing, and Nico joined in.
Percy blushed.
“I told you!!” Thalia shouted, hugging her stomach. “Oh gods. I have the cramps now.”
Pretty soon, all the Greek campers started laughing, while Percy's face turned as red as a tomato.
The Jason rolled his eyes. “I wonder what Octavian would say,” he said sarcastically.
“Greeks are geeks,” Frank said in an imitation of Octavian's voice. “I knew they were always imbeciles! Why should we even trust them?”
“Frank!” Hazel scolded.
Reyna laughed.
“JUST READ!!!!” Percy screamed, his face bright red.
Jason raised an eyebrow. “Okay...”
She twisted the ring on her necklace. “None of your business.”
Chris tutted. “I hope you're not keeping anything away from him now.”
Clarisse glared at her boyfriend and Chris shut up.
“Oh.” I stood there for a minute in uncomfortable silence.”So...I could just walk out of here right now if I wanted to?” “It would be suicide,
“Got that right,” Grover muttered.
but you could, with Mr. D's or Chiron's permission. But they wouldn't give permission until the end of the summer session unless...”
“Unless?” Reyna prompted.
Jason snorted at the next word. “Unless?”
Reyna's cheeks turned slightly red.
“You were granted a quest. But hat hardly ever happens. The last time...”
All the Greek demigods who knew what happened winced.
Her voice trailed off. I could tell from her tone that the last time hadn't gone well.
“That's an understatement,” Clarisse grumbled.

its not really long. im gonna finish the rest probably tomorrow.
