In myth, Vampire are supposed to burn when sunlight reaches their skin. And also, they can be killed with wooden stake and they fear holy objects like the Holy Cross, garlic Blumen etc. Stephanie Meyer moulded her version of Vampire so that they can go about easily instead of just coming out at night and also to make them seem indestructable. Meyer wanted to make her Vampire absolutely flawless, so she brought it up that her version of Vampire sparkle.

For the same reason other Vampire do whatever they do in the sun. That's just how they were created.

There really is no "correct" way for a vampire to react to sunlight. It's no big deal, people just Liebe complaining.

Because its Smeyer's sexual Fantasy and sparkling is apparently 'hot'. And it's based on a dream.
