What's your opinion on these new characters?

There appear to be some characters in Zits comics that I've never seen before.

One of them is pregnant, the other one is openly gay.

First off, I have nothing against gay people, and I know these are both real-deal issues amongst teenagers right now.

But even though Zits is a really accurate take on the teenage life, it's still a comic strip designed for entertainment, and I'm just a little surprised that the writers would take on such controversial issues for their strip.

So I'm wondering what some of your guy's opinions on this are.
