Elena was still in the hospital. She had traded the bett for the seat, which was much Mehr comfortable than the former.
The door opened and Damon came back with two coffees. He gave one to Elena and she took a sip, curling her nose.
“Is there alcohol in this?” she asked surprised.
“Oh, right, that’s mine” Damon apologized. “Sorry” He switched the cups and took a sip from his coffee with bourbon. “Why aren’t Du in bed?” he asked a little accusatory.
“Damon, don’t start” Elena sagte in begging tone.
Damon shut his mouth and signaled that she had to get up. Elena pulled a face and stood up reluctantly. Damon took her sitz and pulled her on his lap. She lay her head in his neck and soon she fell asleep. Damon caught her cup and put it on the pedestal cupboard along with his.
An Stunde later the door opened again and Meredith appeared. She had a piece of paper in her hand and a sober face.
“Elena” Damon whispered.
Elena slowly opened her eyes and looked a little mad at Damon. Why didn’t he let her sleep? Then she lifted her head and turned it so she could see Meredith.
“I just came back from the lab” Meredith started sinister. “And I’m afraid I have bad news. The cancer has returned”
Damon squeezed Elena’s hand as he felt her trembling.
“You have to start taking chemo right away” Meredith added deadly serious.

This episodes was fantastic. Not only a flashback, which we haven't had in awhile. But it completely broke off from the regular story line. A focus on the Salvatore's together-with very little Elena. Matt and Elena have some real bonding time. While Alaric has the Tag from hell.

I watched season two in a rather piecemeal fashion. I was so disgusted that Damon was the one who loved Katherine for all those years, and she only loves Stefan. As a result I'm rewatching Vampire Diaries and having to fill in the missing pieces. Lesen recaps doesn't really do it. It's when I watch the actual episodes I really start thinking about things.
