I thought about this a lot and decided to write an Artikel about it. If you've noticed, most ponies have cute markings that explain their name. For example, when Lyra was born, they named her Lyra, and this name defines the future sweet mark. Because when Lyra got a little older, playing the lyre became her special talent. So how does this happen? Do their parents see the future? Not just Lyra's parents, but others as well. Let's start with Minuette, for example. Minuette means Minute in Italian and the sweet sign of Minuette is an hourglass. How did Minuette's parents name her for her future sign? There's also Sunset and Moondancer. Except for Luna, of course. Luna clearly means "moon".
Derpy Hooves's is another matter. Cutie Mark doesn't reveal his name, but Du can see Derpy's name in silly moves.
Ok, enough examples. Now it's time for the theories. Parents can use the future orb to see the future, but that would be ridiculous because little ponies always ask the big ones:
''What about my cute sign? Apple? Cat? ''
If the elders knew, they would answer. Maybe ponies take their names as an example and do something suitable for their name and earn the same signs as their names, oder their names are born into them when their parents see them.
It's a mystery.
