When my ma was rushed to the hospital, there was an silent and stressed feeling in the air. Granny Smith would pace the floor nervously while I shut myself in my room, trying to forget that I would have a little sister.



My pa came Home the evening after ma and he had left. He seemed quite happy. "Your ma had a beautiful filly," he told me. "You're gonna Liebe 'er!"



I wasn't so sure.



Granny Smith was then frantic. She made a warm cake in a matter of minutes. It was a sweet vanilla with chunks of apples and apfel, apple frosting.



Granny set it on the table. "I'm so excited!" she yelled to me as I inhaled the scents of the delicious cake.



I admit--I was quite excited, too. But Granny Smith was absolutely ecstatic. I didn't really understand why she felt that way.



At least, until I saw my sister.



When my ma walked in, bleary-eyed but grinning, I saw a flash of yellow hair. I tried to peer over, but my ma gently hid my sister.



"I want Du to see her at the cake, 'kay?" she whispered.



So, Ma trotted into the dining room. A few Minuten later, Pa called me in.



"Come and see your sister."



I did. And my herz stopped.



My sister was beautiful. Her yellow mane was already long and her orange mantel gleamed in the light. She blinked at me with two wide, bright green eyes.




I dropped lower so I was level with her. Her eyes bored into mine. I looked up at my parents. They grinned down at me.



"Meet Applejack."
