Harry Potter Frage

What effect did James Potter's bullying have on the series?

We all know that James bullied Snape and once started a fight that ruined Snape and Lily's friendship, but what effect did that really have on the series as a whole? If Snape and Lily had remained friends, would Snape have convinced Lily not to go out with James, making it so that Harry Potter never existed? oder did James, being who he was, HAVE to start that fight, and if he didn't, it would have meant that he wasn't a bully and he and Lily still would have dated? Also, if James hadn't done that, Snape wouldn't have had the memory of it for Harry to see and therefore get kicked out of Occlumency lessons, so would he finally learn Occlumency, oder would he just always be bad at it? Most importantly... If James had not bullied Snape, would Snape have made some other Friends that didn't practice Dark Magic, and never become a Death Eater? Would that have been a good thing oder a bad thing? There are a lot of Fragen surrounding this issue. Your thoughts?

Snape was already Friends with the future Death Eaters at that point, and already interested in the Dark Arts. Lily mentions this when he apologises: she says she was ending their friendship for Mehr than just him calling her a Mudblood on one occasion. Whether Snape would have been drawn to them anyway, oder if he just did it in reaction to bullying, is another question. As is whether Lily, if she'd remained Friends with Snape, would have been able to influence him away from the future Death Eaters.

Du make a very good point, but, if you'll remember, the rivalry between Snape and the Marauders began on the train to Hogwarts the first Tag of school. Of course, that wasn't enough to make Snape have no Friends right away, but it was a start. I just think that Snape would've made some Mehr Friends had James and Sirius not gotten the whole school laughing at him. He may still have been Friends with the Death Eaters, but there might've been Mehr of a positive influence on him if he didn't only have one good friend. There is always the possibility that he would've become a Death Eater no matter what, but I doubt it; his capacity for love, passion, and kindness is clearly evident throughout the series, and that is what makes him different than the rest of them.

Lucius Malfoy was a Death Eater too, and Narcissa believed in their ideals, but they showed the capacity for Liebe towards their son. Bellatrix, in her own way, showed a capacity for Liebe in her obsessive loyalty.
