Just some thoughts on the old and the new Team Avatar. :)

The new series have recycled a lot of old characters (not meant in a bad way, they managed to include new ideas) and already in the first two episodes formation of new team has begun.
The new team members resemble the Zurück oder at least carry on the same characteristcs that gAang (Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, *Zuko) had.
Korra - Being the Avatar, she is to her Team as Aang was to his; she carries the responsibility and duties that come with her powers. Her character however, is nothing like Aang's (her lack of spirituality is like Sokka's oder Toph's) oder any other character from the old Team for that matter, if I had to point to one it would be Zuko - they share destructive rage and impatience. She is also in the exactly opposite position than Aang was, she has mastered waterbending, earthbending and firebending and has yet to learn airbending.
As a waterbender from Southern Water Tribe Korra also slightly resembles Katara.
Naga - Korra's animal spirit guide and this show's version of Appa is a polar bär dog. I have to say that I was dissapointed Von Naga in the first two episodes. Unlike Appa who was a character in his own, Naga seems nothing Mehr like a ridding animal, but I guess it's too early too judge.
Bolin - Goofy and funny, he serves as a comic relief character like Sokka did in the old Team. As an earthbender the immediate asociation is Toph, but I cannot see any personality resemblance; in fact he has Mehr of a laid-back and enthusiastic approach to life, simmilar to Aang's.
Mako - The firebender; according to creators of the Zeigen he reminds them of Zuko, but without the angst. He doesn't seem to be the type to freak out and destroy things and keeps his feelings inside instead, so I have to admit he reminds me of Mai Mehr than anyone else on Atla.
But back to gAang - I would say he represents Katara in a way, gegeben that (so far) he serves as a Liebe interest for the Avatar (Yes, I can find Kataang in Makorra), but like fanbase has pointed out, this is the new Zutara (and this time, it's the real deal).
Mako and Bolin are siblings, so there is a Katara-Sokka realationship, with all the sibling rivaly and arguments going on (in the future hopefully, so far they got along pretty well) and are Korra's teachers as well (not traditional bending teachers, as she already knows earthbending and firebending, but they can teach her styles that pro-benders use).
He also has Toph's initial "I am too cool to care" attitude and Sokka's edge that Bolin lacks.

So at least two important figures are still missing - the non-bender and the small, problem-causing and yet cute animal. The last one is supposed to be Pabu, a feuer frettchen that hasn't appeared yet and the non-bender will probably be Asami Sato.
Asami has lived a life of luxury, but despite her fancy clothes and polite manners, she has a tough side as well. She is an expert driver and isn't afraid to mix it up on the racetrack. Asami has also had the best self-defense training money can buy and is a big Fan of pro-bending, going to every match.

She had a life of luxury - sound familiar? (That "tough" in the paragraph is probably a clue. ;))
As a non-bender in a world with all anti-bending talk getting on, there is room left for (temporal) betreyal and all kind of possible complications.
But we will see.
