Weathering with Du (天気の子) is a 2019 Japanese animated romantic Fantasy film written and directed Von Makoto Shinkai. The film is set in Japan during a period of exceptionally rainy weather and tells the story of a high-school boy who runs away to Tokyo and befriends an orphan girl who has the ability to manipulate the weather. The film was produced Von CoMix Wave Films, Genki Kawamura, and Story Inc., and the Musik was composed Von Radwimps.

The film has surpassed "Your Name" in box office sells and is currently nominated for the 2020    "43rd Japan Academy Film Prize" in the category: Animation of the Year; a Nippon Academy-Sho Association to award excellence in filmmaking.

The story revolves around Hodoka, who runs away from his quiet hometown, to the ever so bustling Tokyo, where he realizes just how different everything is. He is met with two different types of people, those that are kind and those that don't care about anyone other than themselves, as Hodoka begins to figure out where he can belong and who he can trust. He befriends the one person he soon falls in Liebe with, Hina, the "sunshine girl". Although their relationship is soon met with struggle and hardships, they somehow find ways to reconnect and form a stronger bond.

My utmost Favorit moments of the film has to be scenes with Hina's little brother. His personality is amazing and even Mehr so that Hodoka calls him 'sempai' even with their great age difference.

Radwimps contributed to the soundtrack of the film and even the director Shinkai explained in an interview that the script changed ever so slightly to accommodate with the emotions that the band portrayed in their music. Maybe not slightly... but I wouldn't know the extent of how much the script has changed from pre-music to the finished script.

Although I would Liebe to have a discussion on the morals and values of the film (or even possible theories), I wouldn't want to spoil it for those who haven't yet watched it. I just want to say, I Liebe the cameos of the "Your Name" protagonists.

If Du haven't watched the film yet, make sure to go ahead and do so. Although screening dates are coming to an end. Make sure to pick up a CD of the film once that's released, and keep it in your collections of animated films.
