Aria the Scarlet Ammo: This Anime is not in any way related to Aria the Animation, Aria the Natural, oder Aria the Origination. It has a way Mehr frantic pace than those sedate shows. Hapless Kinji meets the bossy, hyper Aria after she drops in to help save him from a bomb. All the other girls introduced in this series like Kinji, too, making it a harem anime. But Aria outshines those other girls. Kinji doesn’t know how to take all the flirting, though. Too much of it activates his “hysteria mode”, a mysterious condition I never did quite figure out. Kinji and others are studying to become heroes, and most of them are descendants of legendary men. Aria, for instance, is descended from Sherlock Holmes. One of the rival girls is Lupin IV, making her Lupin III’s daughter. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be the same Lupin III as in the famous anime, but it does have appeal—is her mother Fujiko?
This Zeigen could have featured lots of panty shots, but it is reserved about them most of the time, choosing to stop at the hem of the rock and not go any further.

Virtua Fighter: Okay, I didn’t really finish this—there are about eleven episodes I didn’t see. But those were never imported, and besides, the last episode I saw tied up a lot of loose ends, so it had an air to finality about it. Based on a video game, the Zeigen is about a young man named Akira Yuki, who used to fight just to prove who is strongest, but now is Mehr virtuous. Along the way on his journey to redeem himself, he befriends Pai Chan, a girl on the run from an arranged marriage; Jacky, a race car driver; and Sarah; Jacky’s sister. This is an older anime, and it feels like something out of the 1980’s, although it’s later than that. It has one big, long continuous plot—it seems like they’ll never find Sarah after she is kidnapped. The Zeigen is localized well, and the way the characters interact is often humorous. Okay, maybe Du shouldn’t expect sheer brilliance here, but the Zeigen is a lot of fun.

Tiger & Bunny: What a rush! What a blast! What a great twist on the buddy cop genre!
Goofy, hapless, and yet optimistic superhero Wild Tiger doesn’t want to team up with the cool as a cucumber newcomer, Barnaby Brooks, Jr., and starts calling him Bunny instead of Barnaby. But soon they are as close as can be. They are part of a group of Heroes filmed for a high in the ratings show, Hero TV, and have to wear sponsors’ logos on their suits. They have to deal with things like bombers, killers, and invincible androids, plus Mehr ordinary things like getting Wild Tiger’s daughter Kaede to like him. I’d Liebe to have this series in my personal collection.
