“ We were always told, ‘don’t bring the character to you, go to the character’. I always preferred leaving lots of myself outside the room and exploring the world through the eyes and the body and the mind of a different person who is ultimately better than Du are. Even if they’re a mass murderer, they’re infinitely Mehr interesting than Du are…And then Du take it off at the end of the Tag and I slump around the streets with my shoulders hunched, back to boring old me.”

“I don’t think I’ll be saying goodbye to Middle-earth for a loooong time. Who wants to, though? I want to live in Middle-earth, actually. If there was a door in this room I could go through, I’d live there.”

“As an actor, Richard is one of those very rare actors in which he uses stillness and he uses quiet to draw your eye. There can be a lot of things happening on the screen, there can be many characters on the screen, and yet Thorin, in his stillness, draws your attention. It’s a very, very rare skill in some ways, it’s … he’s somebody, when he’s on screen, that your eyes go to, that Du want to watch.”

“It’s strange, because in real life he’s so quiet, and he’s very unassuming and shy, and yet Du put him in those boots and that mantel and give him a sword, and he immediately assumes an incredible authority. He always walked like Thorin on set, and when he’s Richard, he walks in a completely different way.”

I: But you’ll turn 40 Weiter year. Isn’t about time Du gave it some thought (family & kids)? RA: Yes. That’s part of the problem, isn’t it, because I still feel like I’m 25 in my head. I always thought when I got to 40 it would be OK because I’d feel 40, but I don’t.
It seems I'm not the only one to have this problem...LOL

“Deep down I’m searching for another North and South. It was the first time I started to experiment on screen and take risks. I’d Liebe to play Richard III oder Machiavelli. I have fun with the baddies - I can really delve into my naughty side.”

Mr. Armitage makes one charmingThorin Oakenshield… Which is something I could never have imagined… It’s completely different from the book, but somehow seems to work, at least as far as I can tell from the trailer :D It looks good!

I saw North & South for the first time last Monat (& a few times since)& I couldn't place him so I googled... He was the leatherclad beauty I drooled over in the series on BBC & wondered who would care about Robin haube after getting a look at this guy? I loved seeing his softer side in The Vicar of Dibley. After listening to him read a couple of Bücher I realize I wouldn't have to see him to believe what he says. He's extremely talented & it doesn't hurt that he's so HOT! Yeah, I'm smitten.
