First that was disresbectful. Two, I so wish I was there! Hahahah take that you ****! Turning the Brazlian town into a move set. You diservered it! Hahaha loved that!
@youknowit-That was really rude. That's good of them to stand up like that. They're angry about it, so they're standing up for what they want. I mean really, they set FIRE to a PORTA POTTY!! It's not like they snuck around and destroyed everything Twilight! Besides, fire+porta potty=laughable....
Destruction of property is not laughable. Little kids who like breaking things have underdeveloped brains. parents are supposed to teach them that breaking things is wrong so they don't grow up thinking it's funny and it "pwns"
Yes but what gave the Twilight cast and crew permission to film in their neighborhood honestly these days can anything be talked out. And as invarerzia said how is setting a portapoty aflame not funny?
Great but would they have moved areas if they where asked probably not because they're the oh so famous larger then life twilight cast.
Another book that teaches kids to vandalize is twilight James vandilized that heller studio Edward Vandalized Bellas stuff they must have mental problems.
If the government told them not to film in Brazil, they wouldn't film in Brazil. They'd film somewhere else.
Did James vandalizing the dance studio cause a bunch of Twilight fans to start a world wide vandalizing spree? There's a difference. Real world damage came out of Harry Potter
So...lemme ask you, if something/somewhere you loved and cherished was being used to film a romance movie that you didn't even care for, you wouldn't have any thoughts of standing up for what you care about.?! It's like in court; if your the lawyer of the defendant, and the lawyer of the plantiff makes a thorough, well-though comment, are you just going to back down and say you give up?! I would certainly hope not!
It doesn't say the Brazilians don't like Twilight. They just didn't want a movie filmed there.
A portion of Transformers 2 was filmed here. I didn't like the firsst Trandformers movie. I don't like Megan Fox or What's his name LaBuff (whatever it is) but I felt absolutely no ugre to get violent and set things on fire.
I do not have a rage issue.
Would you let the Harry potter cast use your neighborhood to film, giving them the right to tell you not to walk down certain streets or do certain actinides because it could disrupt their filming. Would you like to listinen to the constant screaming from Emma as she acts out the torture scene while your trying to sleep or relax? Would you just let what happens happen?
And how did the HP books influence people to vandlize Rowling didn't write hey everyone go vandalize things in her books.
What if they wanted to use the beach. And could you really handle it, it would get annoying after a while it's in human nature to be annoyed by things like that.
@zanhar1-Exactly! It's so very hard for anyone to put up with an inconvenient annoyance for too long. No matter what, you're going to eventually want it to be gone right then! It IS human nature!
You know what, let's just please quit fighting about this! What's done is done! Let's just agree to disagree and be done with this! We're all getting too worked up with this, and its getting sad. Let's just stop it!
And I never said to set things on fire when you mad matter of fact I say don't do that. But I am saying the indecent is funny I mean it not everyday that a portapotty gets set on fire.
"Carey Mack, operations manager for Raleigh-based Readilite & Barricade Inc., said the company has about 4,000 toilets, and he estimated as many as 200 of them a month are rendered unusable after being set on fire, spray-painted or tipped."
XD but it isnt every day that a movie setgets vandalized every day it interesting news, I never ment for this to be an issue just thought it was interesting and unexpected.
@YKI: You may have an issue with vandalism, but saying we have mental problems is way out of line. And it's not like they did a massive burning of Twilight books.
@youknowit : they filmed at the street actually, they're added some new scene to show how happy E/B are after they're married. If I'm correct it's a kissing scene ON the street.
The cast had a permit. I don't know how things are done in Brazil, but here in America, when something like this happens the local government gives you a pretty decent amount of time to take up any problems they have about whatever is going on, and to make other arrangements (place to stay, figure out new routes). I seriously, seriously, doubt the crew just showed up one day with no warning. And even if they did, that's the problem with the governments fault. It's their job to keep their residents informed on what's going on. They should have taken it up with them, not the crew.
it's incredibly disrespectful and I don't see why they did it. I'd probably find the idea funny, but to actually do it is just pointless. They gained nothing, it was stupid. x
I agree^ its funny because it said 'set a portable toilet on fire', it wouldn't however be funny if it said 'set one of their trailers on fire'. It was just a portaloo but the reasoning behind it is OTT!
I personally thought the porta potty thing was funny. The vandalizing the whole set was a bit drastic(sorry for spelling). I mean I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan and a HUGE Anti-Twilight perosn, but I don't see why they had to vandalize the whole set.
@youknowit~Your getting really worked up about the whole porta potty thing(or so it seems to me) when you pointed out yourself that this isn't new. So why get worked up? Also, calling us mental when we find that the porta potty and diestrucint of Twilight funny was so uncalled for. We just happen to not like Twilight so we find it funny when something like this happens.
It is, it made me think of the Olympics in Beijing where they evicted the two old women to build the stadium..... maybe they should have burned some portaloo's in protest.
It's not the toilets I care about. It's the principal. They're waisting people's money. They think toilet's don't matter or something. How would you like if someone went into ypur house and smashed your toilet, and then laughed about it? Everyone else joins them and you're left having to buy a new toilet? Would you laugh too?
Yes I would the tolite in my house is already broken or close to broken. And whatever you sue the person for breaking into your house and destroying things. The twilight guys can do the same. Who cares about the laughter they are just there. And there's a diffrance between breaking things to protest and breaking things to break them.
Have feeling for the toilets people!!!!!!!!! Every day 6 or 7 are ruthlessly killed in unprovoked attacks! Just donate a pound a month to the cause and give a portaloo a better life.
How often do you use toilets? How would you enjoy life without them? Don't take toilets for granted. You'll regret it when you need one, but it's on fire
Invaderzia, but they had legal PREMMISSION to film. weather they like it or not, if they VANDALIZE there breaking a LAW. so yes, its disrespectful and its good to stand up for what you believe in.
But trust me, it wasn't a good time to do it.
Do you honeslty care about toilets this much? For peats sake! It's what a $100(american) to buy a new toilet or replace it! THey could just cut down on Edward's salary or something. Or cut down on all of the money used to buy food for them! Make Edward and everyone else buy their own food! It's a toilet!
Yeah, I care about toilets. I use them every day. I don't know what I'd do without them.
That's not how you treat actors. They're pretty much doing you a favor by acting in your movie.
Plus, they have a contract, you can't break that contract becuase some crazy people set the toilets on fire.
They cost more than $100 to build. It doesn't just hurt the movie budget, it hurts the toilet manufacturers. The people who need to use the toilets. The people who build the parts the manufacturers buy from
No its not a favor, movie producers are paying them! The walmart employees aren't doing a favor to Walmart!
There are other ways to make a change, but if you look at everything around the world happening... Nobody's laughing at Egypt or the other countries that've had protests like this. I'm sure a portopotty got destroyed in a country at war. Nobody's laughing at that one. This is it on a smaller scale of something that can become much bigger and much worst. Imagine if the set would've been set on fire while someone was there? Imagine they'd have attacked a crew member? Those behaviours all have the same roots on different scales and by starting at 1, you climb to a 2, 3, 4 and finally someone gets hurt. Just because its Twilight doesn't mean its okay.
Second, youknowit, that was disrespectful. I don't agree with them but bringing mental health into the equation was not necessary or bringing a point.
And there is a difference between someone with a mental issue and someone with a destructive purpose. I have a sister that's autistic and if she breaks something because she's angry it's not because she's a vandilising punk. Be careful how you respond to that.
And I'm pretty sure that one portapotty can be replaced. As others have said actors aren't doing favors they're doing jobs. A favor is volunteer work for no pay at all.
zanhar1 @ Do you hate the HP cast because they do it too? No because they took the initative and respect for approaching the council and requesting a permitt to film.. would you rather them just do it without approvement?
I never said I hated the twilight cast for goodness sake they're only doing they're jobs. Did you not read my other posts I said I posted this because thought it was interesting not because I hate twilight.
really cheap toilets are $12.15 the ones they use are probably closer to $150. they also order more than one. they probably need at least 50 of them to be up to health code
They are given the option to renew their contract after every film. they volunteer to renew their contract. they are all getting enough roles now to not need twilight
They still aren't doing them a favor. Favor's are not payed for.
Whoever brought up that portaloos get burned a lot(I think it was you youknowit) then this one toilet won't hurt the toilet company. It's not a big deal actually. All we did was say it was funny and then we were done. I am a major HP fan and if one of the portaloos for the HP set got set on fire I would still be laughing my head off. I don't care if it's Twilight, HP, or PJO. I would laugh my head off. Doesn't make a difference who's potty it is. I still find it funny.
Should the directors take the actors for granted? should they treat them badly? No, they still have free will. Employees have rights. you can't disrespect them because they are chosing to work for you.
It doesn't matter who's potty it is, it's still disrespectful, stupid, annoying, rude, destructive, and illegal.
People get murdered all the time too, so one person being murdered shouldn't be a big deal either, right?
The point was ha ha one portaloo a lifeless nonemotion filled object got burned ha ha funny end of dabatewe have opinions we're not gonna change them let's stop trying before this gets out of hand and someones feelings get hurt.
I didn't say they should disrespect the actors. All I said was since this ONE portaloo out of the however many they have is gone then they could cut their pay. If they cut all of the leads pay by like 10-25 dollars(American) and they can pay for the broken toilet. I mean they get like what a million or so dollars. I don't think 10 dollars is going to make a big difference here.
It may be rude to some people, but others(like almost everyone on this link) think it's funny. Our opion. Not going to change most of them. We find this funny and you find it "rude".
Toilet's are on a smaller scale then murder. Toilet's are living. THe victim's are therefore, it's a differnt story. If someone would have been in the portaloo or on the set and either had gottong burned or hurt most of us wouldn't be laughing. But, since no one DID get hurt then we laugh because it's a friggin bathroom going up in flames.
Exactly, redhawks. If someone was in the portable toilet no one would be laughing. Plus, the budget is 75 million. That is more than any of us will be making in our lives.
Hey butting in why is this such a big deal? yes vadilization (sorry about my horrible spelling!) Is wrong but the fire to a pora-potty is funny. but the other is not right. and i think everyone here sees its rong, but don't call us mental for having a opinion and laughing at a harmless toilet fire.
The government will SAY its for the city but really its for their seconds homes and holiday villas, i live in Britain and this is exactly what they used our tax and vat for before the public found out.
Brazil isn't England. England has a very unethical government. not every place is like that.
if the protestors were but in a direct inconvenience, they were promised compensation. if they vandalized and still expect to get paid, they've got another thing comming. the compensation was an offer in exchange for their cooperation.
"The first installment of Breaking Dawn arrives next year"
Wow.
Loving those Brazilians!

Cheers to you guys! <3
