I've been in one, and I love them! But don't forget to duck when a rooftop is being thrown at you!

I grew up in Florida - I was in two of them! Frightening, especially since they usually hit at night!

The reminants of Isabel. I can't remember whether it was Cat 1 or a Tropical Storm or just wind and rain.

Not counting Tropical Storms/Waves: Andrew(1992), Irene(1999), Frances(2004), Jeanne(2004), Wilma(2005), Katrina(as a Category 1; 2005.)

Usually the worst part is afterward when it's boiling hot and there's no A/C because the power's out.

In my country, I have many times because I live in Hong Kong. Hurricane in western coast of Pacific Ocean named Typhoon. 4 times The Hong Kong Observatory (香港天文台)had raised hurricane signal. The first one is on 16 September, 1999. I was 11 years old at that time. Typhoon (颱風) York (約克) attacked Hong Kong. At 6:45 a.m. The Hong Kong Observatory raised the Hurricane Signal No. 10 for the first time since Typhoon Ellen (愛倫) attacked Hong Kong on 9 September 1983. I had seen water came in my room. The signal was issued for 11 hours. The second time is on 24 July, 2012, Severe Typhoon (強颱風) Vicente (韋森特) attacked Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Observatory raised the No. 10 warning at 12:45 a.m. The signal was issued for 2 hours and 50 minutes. The third one is on 23 August, 2017. I was 28 years old at that time. Super Typhoon (超強颱風) Hato (天鴿) attacked Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Observatory raised the Hurricane Signal No. 10 at 9:10 a.m. The signal was issued for 5 hours. The fourth one is on 16 September, 2018. I was 30 years old at that time. Super Typhoon (超強颱風) Mangkhut (山竹) attacked Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Observatory raised the Hurricane Signal No. 10 at 9:40 a.m. The signal was issued for 10 hours.

In 1985, Hurricane Gloria hit us in CT, on Sept 27th when I was only one years old. Last year we got hit by Hurricane Irene, but we only lost
our power for only 16 hrs. Far as Gloria, we lost our power for three days. So that's only two in my life time.

If hurricane sandy hits us it'd be the first time we got a hurricane in over 20 years. Pennsylvania usually gets a little bit of the rain and we're done.
