Walt Disney Links - Pinocchio Live-Action Reboot in the Works @ Disney 

Disney is in the live-action reboot business, and the next animated classic feature up for re-imagining is

 the story of a wood-carved puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy. With the help of Jiminy Cricket and the paternal Geppetto, Pinocchio goes on a quest to prove his worth and learns about the costs of lying along the way. Per Deadline, Peter Hedges (

) is penning a script loosely based on the original story of

is one of many, many reboots in development at the studio. On the heels of their most recent fairytale revamp,

, which debuted to positive critical response last month and has grossed more than $400 million internationally to date, Disney is moving full-speed-ahead on live-action adaptations.

 due the following month on May 27th, 2016. Emma Watson and Dan Stevens are slated to lead the Bill Condon-directed adaptation of

adaptations floating around Hollywood at the moment, though it’s been a while since we’ve heard updates on either. Guillermo del Toro has been in development on a surreal stop-motion feature for years (we even got a look at his artwork two years ago), and Susan Downey is collaborating with husband Robert Downey Jr. to develop a version that would star him as Geppetto, Ben Stiller was in talks to direct at one point.

Of all the announced reboots so far, this one might have me the least interested. The other two

adaptations in the works sound more interesting at this point, but we know so little that it’s really hard to say. What do you think? Are you interested in seeing a live-action Pinocchio?
