Chapter 5- The Shop
“UGH!” Toph complained. “This is so boring! I forgot how much I hate flying.”
“You’ll get used to it again,” Aang assured her. “Besides, we’re stopping for a break soon, right Zuko?”
There was no reply from Zuko. He didn’t even turn around. He just stared in front of himself, concentrating on where he was going.
“Zuko?” Aang asked again. “Are Du okay?”
Zuko took a few Sekunden to answer.
“I have a lot on my mind,” Zuko answered finally.
“Aang,” Katara sagte gently. “Maybe we should take that break now.”
“Yeah, I think we all need one,” Suki agreed.
“There’s a village down below. We can go there,” Zuko told them.
Zuko steered Appa down to the small village. It was when he stood up on the ground when he realized he was starving. His stomach growled so loudly that everybody heard it. His Friends giggled at him.
“Zuko, is that your stomach, oder a hungry platypus-bear?” Sokka teased.
They laughed harder. Zuko flushed and gave his friend a look.
“It’s my stomach. Where can we get something to eat?” Zuko said.
“There’s a Shop over there with people coming out of it,” Toph announced.
“What a surprise! A Shop with people coming out of it!” Katara teased her.
“I mean the people are walking out with food, Sugar Queen,” Toph pointed out.
She pointed to a little indoor Shop not too far from where they were standing. They walked to it and went in.
Inside there were a few wooden tables and chairs. At the counter to the side a man was selling fruits, vegetables, fish, and berry juice. They walked up to the man and they each bought what they wanted. Then they went to sit down, Zuko sitting at a different tabelle from them alone. He was glad his Friends were coming along, but he needed to think. His mother could be anywhere in the Earth Kingdom. There are thousands of Earth Kingdom towns, and there was no way they could Suchen in every one of them. Zuko took a bite of his wassermelone slice.
“Zuko?”
He looked up with a mouth-full of melon in his mouth. Katara had taken a sitz at his tabelle across from him. He nearly choked as he tried to schlucken the melon.
“Zuko, Du know that Du can always talk to me,” Katara told him. “You shouldn’t isolate yourself. I know what it feels like to lose a mother, remember? So tell me, what’s on your mind?”
“A lot,” Zuko replied. “Too much. I haven’t seen my mother in seven years, and now I’m finally looking for her. Actually seeing her makes me feel sick. I don’t know how I’ll react.”
“Zuko, you’ll be fine, trust me,” Katara assured him. “You’ll be so happy to see your mother again, and I’m sure she’ll be Mehr than happy to see Du too.”
Zuko felt better. He grinned and her and she smirked back. Aang was so lucky to have her as his girlfriend. She gives good advice, she’s strong, brave, and she’s beautiful.
Suddenly five buff older teenagers ran into the store. The main guy sent feuer over everyone’s heads in the store. Most people screamed.
“No. One. Move,” The main one growled.
