The light dimmed, and the first thing Garren notices is the cold, hard ground. Then he notices the howling wind. Then there was the 800 foot drop in front of him....Wait, what?
Garren scrambled back, trying to put as much distance in between him and the cliff edge. Once he was no longer in danger of falling and splattering his guts all over the rocks, he noticed one Mehr thing. His wounds no longer hurt.
Garren lifted his shirt. All of the cuts and bruises the gryphon had gegeben him had all magically healed. He wondered if the voice had anything to do with this. As if on cue, sagte voice began speaking, the voice bouncing off of other nearby mountains.
"You have shown us Du have the strength to fight your opponents. Now, Zeigen us your courage and leap. Leap and Zeigen us Du can conquer what would leave most shaking in their boots, and fall through the door near the bottom.
Garren was amazed at the voice. THEY expected HIM to jump off the mountain? And go through a door, which was supposedly near the bottom.
He stood up, and felt a lump in his pocket. Retrieving the item concealed in sagte pocket, he found binoculars.
Cautiously, he crept toward the edge and looked down with the binoculars in Suchen of this door. There! It was a portal of sorts, suspended in the air about 200 feet above the ground, the entryway pointing up and about 30 feet out from the bottom of the mountain. The portal was about 15 feet in diameter, but it was still very tiny.
Garren had no clue on how to get there without possibly splattering himself all over the mountain-side. But that was BEFORE he noticed the fairly large piece of cloth on the ground. At once, an idea sprang forward. He had only seen it work in Cartoons oder movies, but maybe.....
-------------
He was having Sekunde thoughts. He didn't even know it'll work, and he only got one try. Using the cloth and pieces of his tattered shirt, he made his own Bat-cape. Where the idea had originally come from he didn't know, but he had made it nevertheless. But it didn't seem logical, the Mehr he thought about it. Nothing he could do at this point, he couldn't re-use the cloth. With a deep breath, he got a running start, jumped, opened the cape.... and began gliding!
"HOLY S***!" was Garren's first thought. "IT WORKS!"
But he wasn't dropping fast enough. He had glided past the portal. He let himself go out a couple Mehr feet, then made a U-turn with great difficulty. Stupid idea time: He tucked in his arms and legs to drop faster and shot toward the portal.
His thoughts? "OHHH MYY GOD!"
He was speeding toward the portal falling faster with each passing second, and he had no way to stop.
But he was having the time of his life. He tucked himself in even more, urging himself to go faster. Garren was getting closer and closer to the portal. 150 feet, 120, 70, 40, 30, 20, 10 feet..... Garren let the cape fly open again, and the air caught him, lifting him up a little before letting him gently float down. A couple feet right above the portal, he tucked himself in again, and tumbled into the portal, hearing the voice speak before he fell through.
"Pass. Du have shown us your courage and ingenuity to solve this test. How long can Du hold out before dying, I wonder?"
