real vampires just don't sparkle!

In my opinion they are just not vampires. I do see the point of the people who say the vampire myth is open to wide interpretation, so I understand it's a matter of opinion, but in my opinion Meyer strayed much too far from the central myth to call her creatures vampires. It would be like me calling a flying, rainbow coloured puppy a mermaid just because it could swim.

Also, no offense, but this question is better suited to the vampires spot, just because part of the point of the Traditional vampires spot was for people who love vampires but are sick of hearing about Twilight. I'd like to keep this spot a Twilight free zone, since that's part of it's purpose. If you'd like to talk about your opinion of the Twilight vampires somewhere other than the vampires spot (because I know there are lots of Twi fans there, and a fair few are the rabid kind who jump all over other people's opinions, so I understand wanting a more objective place to talk about Twi-vamps) the critical analysis of Twilight spot would probably be a better place ♥

You want to read a REAL vampire story that dipicts Vamps for what they really are. Read "The Strain." It stomps Twilight's ass.

vampires don't sparkle true but the normal person wouldn't understand why a person doesn't like the sunlight
a vampire doesn't like the sunlight they just don't like it, it botheres there eyes, but it wouldnt make much sence for a person to go in the sunlight and not sparkle, she just did that so that you could tell who was a vampire or who wasn't deal with it ok

umm well i think that is a true vampire movie i mean i dont see why it wouldnt be and before people think im crazy and only like vampires cause i read twilight i would just like to say i have allways liked vampires just the whole mystery of them is amazing and i supose that you dont see much mystery with twilight vampires but its still a true vampire movie cause i have no clue what a "real" vampire looks like because i have never met a vampire before so for all i no they could have 2 sets of fangs

I agree with Mermaid-Tail. Stephanie Meyer went too far away from what a traditional vampire is for her to be able to call the Twlight characters vampires.
