The French Revolution Frage

What happened in France after Robespierre's death?

In history class, that was as far as we went. We did a little bit on the White Terror, but never as far as Napoleon. How did he suddenly get back in power? And he was an emperor too! How, after an entire revolution devoted to the abolition of monarchy, did the French people let someone become their emperor?

Otherwise, Du ask good questions. Napoleon made a coup d'Etat to come to power. How the French people let him become emperor after spending Mehr than a decade in troubles ? I could ask the same Frage : How the French people, that had abolished privileges on August 4th, 1792, continue to have their politicians and money interests be so much privileged Mehr than 200 years later ? History repeats itself...
