I remember visiting this website once...
It was called The Blacklist - Season 2 Episode 2 - "Monarch Douglas Bank"
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Red And Berlin’s Summer Vacation – The Blacklist – Season 2 Episode 2 – “Monarch Douglas Bank”
Last week on The Blacklist we saw Red back in the game, he negotiated with African dictators, was abducted by Mosad, and his ex-wife was captured by Berlin. We also saw the FBI team trace and take down Lord Baltimore with Red’s help.
The finals moment’s of last week’s episode left us with the reminder that Berlin is in control. He asserted himself to Red by sending him a finger from Naomi’s hand. After the intense drama with last week’s season opener, we were left wondering if Red would be able to get his wife back to safety.
Episode two opened in Warsaw, Poland at the Monarch Douglas Bank. We see a team of bank robbers, dressed in white coveralls and masks, enter the building and begin to take over. They head down to the vaults and safety deposit boxes after shutting down the power, take what they want, and are out within six minutes.
Back in the US Red is meeting with Kaplan and her clean-up squad. She complains that this is the third time in three weeks that he has asked for her help and inquires about Naomi. Red then receives a call from his informant Henrik who tells Red about the bank robbery in Poland. Red is instantly concerned about what the robbers were looking for, and sends his team to work on the issue.
We then drop in on Berlin who is speaking with Naomi. He gently reminds her of his power and creepily compliments how beautiful her mouth is.
Keen and Red get in touch – she is checking in with him about Naomi, and he reminds Keen that his daughter is unaccounted for, which means protective custody is probably doing its job. Red informs Keen about the Warsaw incident; Red explains that the world’s biggest criminals use this bank as a funnel for their illegal money.
Keen meets with the other FBI agents to fill them in on Warsaw and that it is likely the robbers were after the ledger that stated all the customers – including the names of the criminals who did their business there.
A package arrives for Red. He opens it to find a tooth.
Ressler and Keen fly to Poland to investigate the crime scene themselves and speak with Strickland, the manager of the bank. It is revealed that the criminals stole hundreds of thousands of dollars. Strickland seems shady, as he goes to one of his team members and argues with him about the stolen “formula.”
While examining the scene, Keen notices a security camera across the street, they obtain the footage and learn that five people dressed in white entered the bank, but six came out and the end of the heist. Looking closer, they realize the sixth person is a female.
The only person who did not clock out at the end of the day was Kaja. Keen and Ressler go to her residence and discover that she was being monitored through cameras. While there, they receive a call informing them that the getaway van was found.
Keen investigates the van and finds a sticky, sweet smelling substance on the front seat. Over the phone, Red informs her that it is filling for a polish style donut, he also lets her know that he is on his way to Poland.
Berlin, being a top criminal, keeps his funds in the Monarch Douglas Bank and angrily calls Strickland. Strickland assures that Berlin’s money is safe and agrees to fly to New York to meet with him personally. In the other room, Naomi takes a chicken bone off of her plate of food.
Meanwhile, Red arrives in Poland and heads straight for the pastry shop. He is clearly good friends with the owner, who actually runs a side business of selling firearms from the back of the shop. Red knows that the bank robbers are also customers of this shop owner and he offers to protect her in exchange for the names and locations of the criminals.
Thanks to Red’s new information, the FBI team breaks down the door and takes Kaja away from the criminals holding her captive.
Now in New York, Strickland meets with Berlin to reassure him that his assets are safely kept in the bank. They discuss “the formula,” and how it is keeping Berlin’s money safe.
Under custody of the FBI agents, Kaja reveals that she was hired by the bank for her photographic memory – she can remember the details of every day in history that she was alive. Kaja uses her memory to track all of the routing numbers and names associated with the large criminal accounts held at the bank. While Keen watches the interrogation, a man slips into the room and attacks her.
Keen and Ressler make it out safely, but Kaja has been shot and is bleeding quickly. Samar Navabi, the same Mossad from last week’s episode, comes to the rescue and puts the team in a getaway car. once in the car, Ressler secure’s Kaja’s bullet wound with a tampon.
Back in New York, Naomi deceptively tells her captor that she is feeling sick and needs the restroom. When he gets close to her, she stabs him with the concealed chicken bone. She runs through the house and finds and empty room with a window. Naomi breaks the window with a lamp, but Berlin enters the room before she can escape.
Naomi hides under a table, and once she hears Berlin and his men leave the room, she comes out from under the table. Unfortunately, Berlin is smarter than she thought and he was still in the room.
Despite the help of the Mossad getaway team, the FBI encounters a roadblock. They duck out of the car, steal another one, and finally get a call from Red. He assures Keen that he has a way out for them. A car bomb goes off nearby and they are able to make it to the train station.
The relief of being on the train doesn’t last long as the train comes to a screeching halt and Red and his men enter the train car. Red takes Kaja with him, promising her the care of a doctor.
In New York, we see Berlin promising more torture for Naomi, but Red interrupts his fun with a phone call and telling Berlin that they should meet to make a deal.
The two meet at Coney Island, a bold contrast to their stark personalities. Red tries to find a way to relate to Berlin by convincing them they have a common enemy. Berlin doesn’t fall for Red’s attempts, so Red tells him that he has access to “the formula” and of Berlins accounts have been dumped into an account controlled by Red. Red will give Berlin back his money in exchange for Naomi.
At the FBI headquarters Cooper yells at his team – they have lost control of the situation. Keen remembers Red’s manicurist who is a trained surgeon. Keen goes to meet with Rosa and she reveals that Red is using Kaja to get to Berlin and Naomi.
Night falls as Red and Berlin exchange bank information for Naomi at Coney Island.
During the final moments we see Cooper meeting with Samar. We also see Red making a deal with the Mossad.
Keen goes to visit Red. She is upset because he used her and the FBI team for his own gain – Red is suspicious of Keen because she figured out his plans.
The episode ends with Naomi going back into protective custody.
Do you think Naomi will be safe? Will Berlin and Red end up duking it out again? Comment below with your thoughts and expectations for next week’s episode!
