Zufällig Snape related question.

Child Severus? Stale clothing, old leather; dank closets, musty rooms, dust. Why? Look at his parents, the house he lived in, and the way he was treated at home, not to mention the area.

Adult Severus? **Takes deep breath and smiles** His lab. All those lovely chemicals and potion ingredients. Yeah...very intriguing.

Yes, potions ingredient and something I would define as... very male. I can't define what that "very male" could be but that's how I feel it.

Astringent oder sharp during and right after potions.
Crisp paper, aged paper, and that lingering faint smell of whiskey right after private time in his room.
But all with that underlying maleness, that undefined "male scent" that is made up of naturalness, personal soap/cleaning process, and schloss living that would exist from Tag to Tag life.

I think that is very individual, cause everyone has own thoughts about Snape (yes, that's true - at that point I'm thinking odd of him ;)).
But some things, like the paper one..., ingredients of the labour etc. are clear. And how he was dressed can say a lot of his smell.
On the other hand he could also have his mothers Liebe on his side and that would mean she has washed his clothes very tidy (smell of sweet flowers, cold and clear water)...but I really don't think so. The Beschreibung in the book was different from that. His bully father had Mehr to say, than his mother. Poor Severus!

I think he smells like new paper and ink, potions, and the forbidden forest... but then there's day's when he carries an extra smell. That extra smell of rose's and wet ground/dirt.
