We Make a Huge Discovery
The Weiter few days were pretty normal, Percy and I met every morning for Ancient Greek lessons. Whenever I wasn’t doing some kind of activity, I was wondering who Percy’s immortal parent was. He didn’t have enough strength to be an Ares kid( Clarisse was really happy about that), but wasn’t as good at archery as the Apollo children. And didn’t have the forbidden ways with wine plants, like a child of Dionysus oder the skill in metal work to be Hephaestus kid. Most people thought he was just a child of Hermes, but I knew better. There was Mehr to this guy then his mischievous attitude.

Finally, it was Friday. The best Tag of the week. Most people Liebe Fridays because it’s the beginning of the weekend, oder they get to stay up late, oder something like that. But us kids at Camp Half-Blood look vorwärts-, nach vorn to bashing each others heads in order to capture a flag. Nothing, and I mean nothing could ruin my plan.

Me and two of my siblings, ran into the pavilion carrying a silver banner with a majestic owl and an olive branch on it. While Clarisse and a few of her brothers and sisters charged into the other side of the building. They were carrying a banner of the same size, except it was fiery red with a boars head and a bloody spear. I personally thought it was a hideous mess, the Aphrodite Kids didn’t seem so psyched about it either. Soon the teams were announced. My kabine had made an alliance with Hermes and Apollo. ( I can’t believe we had to trade chore schedules, dusche times, and the best slots for our activities to get them to support us.) While the Ares kabine made an alliance with the Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Demeter, and Dionysus.

Chiron stamped his hoof onto the floor, “ Hero’s! Du know the rules!,” Oh gods, he didn’t know the half of it. I silently repented the rules as he sagte them ,” The creek is the boundary line. The entire forest is fair game. All magic items are allowed. The banner must be prominently displayed, and have no Mehr than two guards. Prisoners may be disarmed, but may not be bound oder gagged. No killing oder maiming is allowed. I will serve as a referee and a battlefield medic. Arm yourselves!” then he opened up his arms and a tabelle full of weapons and armor appeared. We raced to it, I grabbed a shield, blue feathered helmet, and a silver breast plate. Then I grabbed my bronze knife, I looked at it with wonder for a moment, then called my team forward. They cheered and followed me down the path to the South Woods. A few Sekunden later I saw Percy make his way up to me, I could tell her was trying not to fall on his face. I thought it was kind of cute, but I kept marching. “ So what’s the plan? Got any magic items Du can loan me?”
I let my hand drift to my left pocket where I kept my Verzaubert Yankees kappe my mother had gegeben me for my twelfth birthday to make sure it was still there.
“Just watch out for Clarisse’s spear, Du don’t want that thing touching you.” I warned him. “ Otherwise, don’t worry. We’ll take the banner from Ares. Has Luke gegeben Du your job.”
“ Border patrol, whatever that means.” Great leave it to Luke to make the plan all fall into place.

“It’s easy,” I sagte a little louder. “ Stand Von the creek and keep the reds away. Athena always has a plan.”

I ran ahead, signaling the rest of the team to follow me. Then I put Percy Von the creek and went into the trees. Afterward, I went over to Luke and told him to station the rest of the blue team, he nodded and went off. I took out my Yankees kappe and became invisible. Then I watched as Percy tried to lift his sword and shield at the same time.

Suddenly he looked scared and turned his attention to Clarisse and four of her siblings whooping and shouted. “Cream the Punk!” exclaimed Clarisse as she raised her electric spear. I shivered, I’d gotten pricked Von that thing once. It wasn’t pretty.

Percy looked panicked but stood his ground. He side stepped and avoided one of the warriors blows. They surrounded Percy and Clarisse swung her spear at him. He lifted his shield, but I’m sure he still got electrocuted. He fell back . One of the guys slammed the butt sword into his stomach. “ Give him a haircut,” I herd Clarisse yell. “ Grab his hair.” Percy got to his feet, and managed and raise his sword, but Clarisse slammed aside with her spear and a few sparks appeared. “ The flag is that way.“ He sounded terrified.
“ Yeah,” one of her sisters said. “ But see we don’t care about the flag. We care about the guy who made our kabine look stupid.”
“You do that without my help.” Okay I admit he had guts. Brains. Not so much
Two of the warriors came at him he backed into the creek, and tried to raise his shield. But they were to fast. Clarisse stuck him right in the ribs. Oh no! I yelled inside my head, Clarisse wasn’t going to actually kill him was she? I mean she could be mean but she wasn’t mean, like evil!

A huge cut on his arm spurted out blood. “ No maiming.” he managed to say.
“ Oops,” One said. “ Guess I Lost my Dessert privilege.” Then he pushed Percy into the creek, and they all laughed. Then went back in to get him. That‘s it, I had to get there. He was done for. I ran from out to the bushes. Then something amazing happened. Percy, shouldn’t have been able to but he got up and swung his sword at one of the Ares kids helm so hard, it came right off. Then as two dared to strike at him, Percy smacked his shield into the first ones face, and used his sword to sheer off the others horse hair plume. Both quickly got back as fast as they could. The Weiter wasn’t as anxious as the others, but Clarisse -with full strength- came vorwärts-, nach vorn to attack. As soon as she thrust, Percy snapped her spear like a twig.

“ Agh!” She screamed. “ Du idiot! Du corpse-breath worm!”
I actually expected more, but before she could, Percy smacked her between the eyes and she stumbled backward into the creek.


Suddenly, I heard shouts, ecstatic yells, I saw Luke racing to the boundary line with the red teams flag. When Luke finally got into the safe, sicher side, our team exploded into wild cheers. The Ares flag shimmered, and transformed into a gigantic caduceus, the symbol of Hermes.
We won.
I smiled and focused on Percy who looked numb. “ Not bad Hero.”
He looked around.
“ Where the heck did Du learn to fight like that?” I asked taking off my Yankees kappe and becoming, visible. His face got blood red as he shouted. “ Du set me up! Du put me here because Du knew Clarisse would come after me, while Du sent Luke around the flank. Du had it all figured out.”

I smiled slyly” I told you, Athena always has a plan.”

“ A plan to get me pulverized.”

“ I came as fast as I could. I was about to jump in, but..” I shrugged. “ Du didn’t need it.”
I glanced at his arm. “ How did Du get that?”

“ Sword cut.” He answered. “ What do Du think?”
“ No. It was a sword cut. Look at it.”
He stared at the place the gigantic cut once was.
“ I-I don’t get it.” He said.

It couldn’t be… But it all fits…. This is crazy…. All these thoughts crossed my mind at that moment, I looked at the broken spear then at Percy. The Creek I thought. “ Step out of the water, Percy.”
I ordered.
“ What-”
“ Just do it.”
He walked out of the creek, his knees buckled, but I caught him before he fell.”

No, no ,no… “ Oh Styx,” I cursed. “ This is not good. I didn’t want… I assumed it would be Zeus…”
Suddenly, I heard a growl. But this time, it wasn’t Percy’s stomach. The sounds of cheering and whoops died as Chiron said, in Ancient Greek, “ stand ready! My bow!”
I drew my knife.
On the rocks stood a huge Hell Hound, it was the size of a tank, had horrible red eyes, and fangs like a vampire. And it was looking straight at Percy. My eyes grew wide.
“ Percy run!” I yelled in panic.
I tried to protect him Von stepping in front of him, but it was to fast. The mighty beast leaped over me and pounced Percy as he hit the ground, hard.

Chiron and some of the Apollo kids shot a dozen arrows into the Hell Hounds chest and it fell. Dead.

This was really bad, horrifyingly terrible.
“ Di immortals.” I said. “ That’s a Hell Hound from the Fields of Punishment. They don’t …They’re not supposed to…”

“Someone summoned it,” Chiron sagte gravely.

“ It’s all Percy’s fault!” accused Clarisse.” Percy summoned it!”
“ Be quiet, child.” Chiron ordered.
I stared at the Hell Hounds body as it slowly faded into the ground.

“You’re wounded. Quick, Percy, get into the water.” I told him quietly.

“ I’m okay.”
“No you’re not. Chiron watch this.”
I almost expected him to argue, but he got into the creek. The whole camp gathered around to get a closer look.

I stared at his wounds that were now closing up, then I looked at his face and stared into his green eyes. His sea green eyes. Finally, I looked above his head and my eyes grew wide.

“Look, I-I don’t know why,” He stammered. “ I’m sorry…”
Everything was coming together now.
“ Percy,” I said. “ Um….”
I pointed at a huge hologram of a glowing, green trident. He looked up just in time to see it disappear.
“ Your father,” I muttered. “ This is really not good.”
It’s not that I wasn’t happy for him, it’s just….
“ It is determined,” Chiron announced in a grave, yet proud voice.
We all kneeled, even the Ares cabin, but they weren’t happy about it.

“My father?” Percy asked hopefully.
“ Poseidon.” The name stung my heart. “ Earthshaker. Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God.”
