Caitriona Balfe Says Season 4 of Outlander Will Be Steamy 

’s Claire and Jamie Fraser navigate ancient Scotland, ye olde England, the Atlantic Ocean, and Jamaica, so it’s no great surprise that season four will serve up yet another new world for the couple.

“The show is now set in America, in North Carolina,” Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire, told ELLE.com at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

We know they were shipwrecked and washed up in the colonies at the end of last season, but what will their lives look like there? Will they ever get home? Will Captain Jack Randall come back from the dead? So many questions.

“We see Jamie and Claire as immigrants, as pioneers, and that’s a very interesting thing to watch,” Balfe said. “I think what Scotland meant to Jamie and Claire was such an integral part of the storyline, and so it’s really interesting to see these people as immigrants, and how they meet their native American neighbors and the relationships they forge with them. I’m excited about this season. I think it’s going to be really interesting.”

Luckily she also promised plenty of the usual Claire and Jamie steaminess too. “I think that’s a given at this point,” she said.

Sadly, Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie, couldn\'t be at the Globes with Balfe because he was busy prepping for the new season, reading through scripts with the cast. “I think somebody is wearing a curly wig over there and doing the Claire voice instead of me,” Balfe said.
