'Outlander': Season 2 Of Hit Starz Series Begins Filming, Cast Taking French Lessons

"Filming is expected to last roughly nine months give or take," according to Hypable. "The series will be returning for season 2 sometime in spring 2016. The showrunners made a deliberate choice of delaying the start of filming so that cast and crew had a bit a of chance to recuperate from the PR whirlwind that has been season 1."

Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire on the hit Starz show, revealed in an interview last month that the cast is taking French lessons in preparation for Season 2.

"We\'re going to start French lessons soon," Balfe told Channel Guide. "I speak a little bit of French but I\'m going to have to polish up on that. There\'s just so many great things coming in this second season. I\'m excited."  

Claire\'s personality won\'t change much in the coming season—or ever—according to Balfe.

"[Claire is] a very head-strong woman. We know this," Balfe said. "I don\'t think that will ever change [for Jamie] because that\'s something that he loves about her. I do think that she\'s beginning to realize how dangerous the world that she\'s in now is. We\'ll see her learn, she\'ll definitely learn from these experiences, but will she change the fundamentals of who she is? No."

"I think what we learn about how their marriage works is that even though they can\'t accept some of the things that each other have done, that they can learn how to understand where they\'re coming from and that that\'s how then they can finally move past it," Balfe added. "I think this is two people who really love each other. No matter what they\'ve been through and how they\'ve hurt each other, at the very core, they know who that other person is."

The 12th episode of "Outlander\'s" first season, "Lallybroch," airs on Starz on April 25.
