Once Upon a Time - Es war einmal... would the Zeigen be better if Regina wasn't evil? If she just took out her anger on her mother and left the innocent people alone?

The show would be better if Regina were a great Evil Character and not a petty one.
Gold's a great Evil Character. I Can never say what he's up to next.

The evil characters are an indispensable part of a good story. Now it would not hurt if they were great evil characters...

The whole show is based on the curse she cast. I do believe she is a great Evil Character and not just a "petty" one.

She is what makes the show what it is. However, I would like her to turn good at the end.

@Princess-Yvonne I do think she is a great evil character. And if you want to talk about petty, the origional evil queen wanted Snow dead just because she was pretty. She then wanted to eat her heart. Now THAT is petty.

selfishness is petty too. and that's all there is to Regina.

^^ agreed

Not really, if you want to talk selfishness I may point you in Gina's mom's direction. I thought it was prettyvselfless to save Snow from death. I also thought it was selfless not to attack Snow right on the spot for seeing her and Daniel.

Regina has no loyalty. It's all until it gets to her and her wanting. Like killing her own father just to satisfy herself.

She was pretty loyal to the stable boy. Her loyalty extends as far as to those who haven't hurt her.

^her father hurt her?! the Ginnie hurt her? etc.

She had loyalty when she was good. But we are talking here about EVIL Regina. About what she chose to become.

I agree with Princess-Yvonne. Evil Regina has no loyalty. Good Regina had plenty of it. But good Regina is gone now.

And her evilness could've been prevented if she had care outside her father's love.

Evil Regina is loyal to Henry, unless buying him a playground, video games, and comics is selfish.

The show is about the characters in Fairy Tale Land being cursed into the "real world."

And who cast the curse? Regina. Not Maleficent. Not Rumplestiltskin. Regina. And why did she do that? Because she's evil. And not just evil, but she's also a broken individual, on a whole different level than Rumple.

If Regina wasn't evil, there would be no show. Period. There weren't very many characters powerful enough to cast the curse.

Beyond that, Regina is a pretty complicated person. And, because of that, she makes a complicated villain. And those are the best kind. Black-and-white, 'I'm evil just because' villains are boring.

Princess-Yvonne: She didn't "CHOOSE" to become evil she was MADE evil by the traumatic events in her life. All stemming from her Mother's constant emotional, physical and magical abuse.

Killing Daniel in front of her was what broke the last straw you can't blame her for the way she is now, if you want to blame someone blame her mother.

^blue-eyes, SHE CHOOSE to be evil. Graham, Emma's true love died (was killed in fact) in front of her eyes! this could have made Emma evil. Did it?! No. she choose differently.

It's a thing called: FREE WILL.

Regina could have chosen to fight against all those who, like her mother, kill true love. But instead SHE KILLED TRUE LOVE HERSELF.

Regina IS IN NO WAY BETTER THAN HER MOTHER.

I'm not saying,by all means, that Regina should not be a part of the show. I'm just being continually shocked by those "defending" and "understanding" this woman. It's one thing to say that the show needs evilness to exist and another to claim poor Regina must be defended.

I agree I don't think she chose it, she became that way. It's hard to stay nice when you lose someone important, when you were abused, when you learned right and wrong from a person who didn't know it themselves, and when you were praised for doing wrong and chastised for doing good.

It's hard to stay good when your parents abandoned you as a baby, when you live in an orphanage, when you have to take care entirely of yourself all alone, when you have no friends, when you are abused by the one you thought to be your love, when you finally find your one true love and that TRUE LOVE IS KILLED RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU.

it's hard. but despite all these... EMMA IS STILL GOOD. SHE CHOOSE TO BE GOOD.

Not all people handle things the same; Emma is clearly harder to upset, she is able to handle more emotionally. This is proven by her actions and choices where as Gina seemed to be more sensitive and had a harder time handling the stresses in her life.

Exactly! Not all people...

Now it bewilders me how one can understand and excuse a person with such a horrible structure!

Regina is sensitive only when it comes to herself. She's cold and insensitive as a stone when it comes to others.

I can't see anything, anything at all... to be admired or liked in her.

If she WERE sensitive as you say... the trauma of losing her true love would make her commit suicide. Or cry her eyes out. Or retreat somewhere and take it all on her... That would make me understand her, even love her!

but the way she reacts... it's just a prove of her twisted nature. And I can't understand and find excuses for a sick, twisted, horrible nature as hers.

Some people withdraw themselves and give up, some people try ANYTHING to overcome their sadness. That's how I understand her, I know I would do anything to get out of depression.

Not if anything means killing people and making them unhappy...

Maybe if instead of going out there to destroy all happy-endings she would have fought against those who ruin true love like her mother did, like king George does... She should have her revenge against all this people. Instead she became one of them.

yep. the ones who hurt you. but not random, innocent people too. Let's remember Mad Hatter's recent example. Used him in the most abject way and inflicted huge pain on him.

It seems to me like Regina developed some sort of hypersensitivity and reacts in an extreme way to any form of rejection, but yet appears calm and collected most of the time.
I like it.
