Zufällig dialectics – oben, nach oben 10 Antiheroes
While I was in the Liste making, I thought I'll write another one; this time counting down my Favorit anti-heroes. But first, what is an anti-hero exactly? Despite what the name suggests, it's not the opponent of the hero. An anti-hero is a flawed hero, and therefore, much Mehr interesting then the Mehr traditional heroes. They can be working on the side of good, but with a tragic flaw, oder a horrible past, oder for reasons that are selfish and not entirely "pure". They can also be working for the side of evil, but with hidden noble intentions, oder other underlying complexities. These darker Heroes can be jerks, pathetic, hard, jaded, oder mean. However, all anti-heroes must have enough heroic qualities, intentions, oder strength (physical including attractiveness oder mental) to somehow gain the sympathy of the audience.
Just thought I'll put that out for ya'all. All right then, let us begin!
10: Han Solo – star, sterne Wars Trilogy (1977-1983)
Well, I don't need to introduce this character very much, he's probably one of the most well known bounty hunters and smuggler of all times. A man of selfishness and greed, only taking interest in money, no matter how it can be acquired; Han Solo crosses paths with Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi, and in doing so, he slowly becomes the part of the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire and stands up to lead it eventually, letting go of seeking his own personal gain for a higher, noble cause. This role started Harrison Ford's career as an actor as well, thus Han Solo rightfully claims the 10th place on our list.
9: Discord – My Little pony – Friendship Is Magic (2010 - )
Being the embodiment of chaos, Discord was the primary antagonist in Season 2, bringing anarchy to the magical land of Equestria. But later on he was reformed Von the strong power of friendship. I know how cheesy may that sound, but I know from personal experience how much of an effect true Friends can have on you. Even though this particular draconoquus turned to the good side, his mischievous spirit cannot be snuffed out so easily. He's always having fun at the expense of others using his magical powers to alter the very fabric of reality but deep down he has a good herz and often comes to aid the main protagonist, Twilight Sparkle and her Friends in the time of need. John DeLancie's excellent voice Schauspielen also worth mentioning, because he's the perfect voice for this anti-hero, thus engraving Discord into the 9th place.
8: Aldous Snow - Get Him To The Greek (2010)
A typical antihero. Aldous Snow is a burnt out rock star, sterne at the hiatus of his career. A drunk, self-destructive drug addict, who doesn't care about what happens to him at all. His shenanigans are very funny but he's always having fun at other's expense until he eventually realizes the error of his selfish ways and makes everything up to his manager and his fans. Russel Brand's awesome voice and British accent is just hilarious! I believe he basically had to play himself in this role, that is why he was so good at it. One of my Favorit comedies of all time, so Aldous Snow lands on the 8th place.
7: Eric Lensheerr AKA Magneto - X-men: First Class (2011)
After Marvel Studios botched up Xmen: The Last Stand, I had high hopes for the 2011 prequel and I wasn't disappointed at all! This movie provided an excellent set of deep, complex characters explaining their origin story perfectly. Magneto is a mutant who has the ability to control any metal and he's on a mission to find the Nazi doctor who killed his mother. But when he meets Charles Xavier, he becomes a part of something Mehr than just vengeance. He soon turns into the leader of the mutants, helping the X-men to prevent the nuclear war. However, this conflict pushes his Ansichten on the world to even Mehr extreme depths and sets him on the path to wage war on mankind, ensuring the mutant's place in the future and his 7th place on our list. Michael Fassbender's portrayal of Magneto was excellent, have to give him credit for that as well.
6: Dan – Dan VS (2011-2013)
Yet another cartoon character! Dan is a typical sociopath, an arsonist and someone who has major anger management issues. He's always furious about everything in the world and goes to extremes to exact vengeance on things and people who “wronged” him, dragging his best and only friend, Chris with him all the way. But he holds a distorted mirror in front of us as well, pointing out several flaws in our modern world. Even despite his twisted personality he can stand up to serve a noble cause every once in a while. Curtis Armstrong's amazing voice Schauspielen is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this guy.
5: Bryan Mills – Taken Trilogy (2007-2015)
Taking the 5th place is a very unlikely action hero, Liam Neeson. His character, Bryan Mills is a father who stops at nothing to keep his family safe. I mean, literary nothing can stop this ex government agent. He has a set of professional skills that make him a very dangerous man and once her daughter is kidnapped he goes after the Albanian mafia. He's a trained fighter, good with Pistolen and basically a guy who pays attention to every single detail, no matter how small oder unimportant they may seem. He lacks a certain kind of morality, which makes him a very effective killer. When his family is in danger, he throws away the facade of the average working man and goes on a rampage leaving dead bodies behind. If you've done something wrong, remember: he will Suchen for you, he will find you... and he will kill you! XD
4: Stewie Griffin – Family Guy (1999 - )
To be honest, I don't know if he's truly an anti-hero oder not, but I do consider him one. Stewie is an infant with an ingenious mind and a British accent. In earlier seasons, his objective was total world domination but his character developed toward a different direction as the series moved on. The reason why I think he's an antihero, is because he's not afraid to fight for his family even if he has no Liebe for them. But he's capable of complex emotions as well, and really cares about his best friend, Brian, even if he teases him a lot. For those who know his work, I don't need to tell how amazing and talented Seth MacFarlane is. Stewie Griffin is one of my Favorit cartoon characters of all time, and a major part of the reason is MacFarlane's brilliant voice acting.
3: Clyde Shelton – Law Abiding Citizen (2009)
Landing on the 3rd place is Gerald Butler's Clyde Shelton. Once a loving husband and a father, he goes rogue after his family was brutally and pointlessly murdered during a burglary. Not only he exacts terrible vengeance on the perpetrators Von causing them a slow and agonizing death, but he goes after the entire justice system with the intention of breaking it all down for letting the murderers get away with a minor penalty. Clyde is a born tactician, an inventor and basically an extremely resourceful man who thinks in long range, carefully planning a decade ahead. He's determined, strong willed and merciless and in his roaring rampage of revenge, he cleverly executes every single person who was responsible for letting the culprits get away so easily, including the general attorney, the judge and several other public servants. With his carefully executed plan, he almost brings an entire city to its knees... while being locked up! He's always two steps ahead of everyone else, and nothing's Mehr dangerous than a man who has Lost his faith in society and people and has nothing to lose. It would be interesting to see a deathmatch between him and Bryan Mills from Taken, wouldn't Du agree?
2: Jack Bauer – 24 (2001-2014)
Who gets the Silver Medal? None other than the rogue Federal Agent, Jack Bauer, the role that resurrected Kiefer Sutherland's career. Working as a highly trained agent of the fictional government agency called the Counter Terrorist Unit, Jack Bauer faces threats of all kinds. Terrorists, organized crime, biological warfare, personal vendettas and so on. But as the series moved on, he became from a strong headed Federal Agent to a wanted fugitive. In his eyes, the ends always justify the means, he serves his country to the very end. His self sacrificing, loyal and always puts the need of the many in front of his own. But he also loses the sense of morality altogether. He becomes grim and merciless, always willing to do what other's don't, but what's necessary to protect the innocent and kill the wicked. His mind becomes filled with bloodlust and reaches the point when he personally guts a guy. So when Jack Bauer's on a rampage, be prepared to see a huge pile of dead bodies! Even though he sounds like a cruel savage, Sutherland's amazing Schauspielen skills provide an excellent portrait to this character.
1: V – V For Vendetta (2006)
Our number one pick is none other than V himself! In the near future where Great Britain was plunged into a cold, hard and unforgiving dictatorship very similar to Soviet Russia, only he stands up to fight for freedom. The mysterious man with a Guy Fawkes mask, a set of knifes and leather outfit, always quoting Shakespeare. V is very intellectual and an excellent fighter. A complex character who uses extreme measures to put an end to the merciless regime that only shackles people. He believes, the building of the Parliament is a symbol and so is its destruction. After several years of intricate and thorough planning and lots of dead bodies, he manages to wake people up to fight for their freedom. One of my Favorit Filme of all times which depicts a pretty grim future... a future the world is rushing toward... that is why V grabs and holds the 1st place on our list.
But before we finish, here are a few honorable mentions.
Batman - Nolan's Batman Trilogy (2005-2012)
In this new reboot, we got a pretty dark Batman. Christian Bale's excellent performance only made it better. A true anti hero and a vigilante who fights evil through darkness.
John McLane – Die Hard Trilogy (1988-1992)
Bruce Willis' iconic, hangover cop in a dirty, bloody tank top, always having a cigarette butt in his mouth who goes against terrorists and various types of criminals to save the innocent. I sagte Trilogy in the title, because those were the original Die Hard Filme that were enjoyable as classic action films. The newer ones were not the same.
Henry Humpreys AKA H – Unthinkable (2010)
Samuel L. Jackson's highly trained interrogator who crosses every line and horribly tortures a man to find out the whereabouts of several nuclear charges that could wipe out an entire city.
Rick Grimes – The Walking Dead (2010 - )
Evolving from a generic, mildly enjoyable protagonist, Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes turns from a former cop who wants to protect his family from the zombie apocalypse into a good antihero character who's been toughened and scarred Von the loss of his wife and his Friends and loses the sense of morality, not afraid to kill the living without hesitation if necessary.
Robert McCall - The Equalizer (2014)
Denzel Washington's ex government agent with a mysterious past who goes against the entire Russian mob after witnessing the abuse of a young girl. He's extremely skilled and dangerous but I believe he has bipolar issues.
Well this is the end of our list, I hope Du enjoyed it! Who do Du think should have been added? Which antihero Du enjoyed the most? Feel free to comment! :)
