Duchess, an amber furred she cat, sunned herself in the patch of light in her Twoleg home. Her kits, Tiger, Hawk, and Sage wrestled nearby. They were in the same litter. Tiger was the oldest, then came Hawk, then Sage. Tiger and Sage had cream fur; the latter with amber eyes and her sister with green. Hawk had amber pelz like his mother; he and Tiger had stripes in their fur. But Hawk, unlike his sisters, had blue eyes which were the exact shade of the water in the ocean. Suddenly a yowl teilt, split the air. Duchess got to her feet. "What was that?" Her kits stopped their play abruptly. A few Katzen ran by. Thier sleek pelz clung to their pelts. Those three Katzen charged straight into some more. The new Katzen hissed and unsheathed their claws. Soon, a battle broke out with the blood of Mehr and Mehr Katzen spilling onto the grass. Duchess gasped in horror as one cat fell over, his eyes rolled up, and lay still. Sage let out a squeak. "Oh my!" Tiger cried. Hawk hid his face in his paws. "Ewww. That was disgusting..." The three kits did not know that the Katzen fighting outside were FaithClan and MintClan, who had fueded for a long time. They had no idea that their destinies lay in the fighting cats' Clans.

arcaninegal123 Four moons later... Duchess's Twoleg had died. She was forced to forage for her own food. Meanwhile, Hawk, Tiger, and Sage had grown a lot. Duchess wandered in the forest outside her Twoleg nest. She sniffed the air for mice. Aha! The mouse was dead in one swipe. But what the she cat did not notice was cats, hiding in the bushes, watching her. The biggest, Rosestar, was a reddish ginger she cat. She was accompanied by two of her warriors, Sweetpetal and Burnstripe. Sweetpetal was a small tortoiseshell she cat and Burnstripe was a lanky black tom with a strange stripe down his back. Rosestar leapt from her perch and landed on top of Duchess, who let out a screech. "What do you want with me?!" she cried. Sweetpetal and Burnstripe appeared. "You're trespassing on MintClan land, that's what!" hissed Burnstripe. "That's our prey." Duchess was puzzled. "But I've been catching mice here ever since my Housefolk died." "Kittypet-" Sweetpetal sneered. "Wait." Rosestar said as she laid her tail on the latter's shoulder. Sweetpetal fell silent. Rosestar continued, "Do you live around here?" Duchess nodded. Three blurs fell came out of nowhere. With yowls, Tiger, Hawk, and Sage landed on the grass. "Hi! What did we miss?" Sage asked. Burnstripe rolled his eyes. Rosestar looked the three over. "They are nearly six moons, no?" she inquired. "Y-yes." Duchess meowed. "They have potential. Would you like to see what life in the forest is like? If you want, then you may come to MintClan." OMG gotta go.

arcaninegal123 "Yay! Let's go!" Sage exclaimed. Duchess pondered for a moment. Should she? Yes, she would. "I accept your kind offer, um... ahhh..." "Rosestar," the MintClan leader answered with a dismissive flick of her tail. "Follow." Hawk and Tiger bounded at the MintClan warriors' heels. Through the ravine, Sage could see a clearing. Rosestar leapt onto a huge rock. She yowled, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Mint Rock!" Many cats appeared out of nowhere. "We have some new members. Sage, Hawk, and Tiger, come here. By joining MingClan, you will take on Clan names." Rosestar stared at Duchess, daring her to object. But Duchess just held her gaze without flinching. "Then Tiger, until you get your warrior name, you will be known as Tigerpaw. Your mentor will be Sunberry. Sunberry, you are a relatively new warrior, but I trust you to pass on your courage to your apprentice." Sunberry, a wiry black tom with amber eyes stepped forward and touched his nose to Tigerpaw's. The cream furred apprentice grinned. "I hope you will learn the ways of MintClan well." Sunberry whispered. Rosestar continued, "Hawk, you from now on until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Hawkpaw. Birchnose, you have trained many apprentices; you will be mentor to Hawkpaw." Birchnose was a fluffy blue-gray she cat. Her eyes shone with kindness as Hawkpaw shyly touched his nose with her. "Sage, you will be known as Sagepaw until you get your warrior name. Mapletail, you will pass your quick thinking on to Sagepaw." Mapletail was a small silver she cat with green eyes. She had an understanding look in her eyes as she and Sagepaw touched noses. "So... Sagepaw.... you'll be training under me now."

arcaninegal123 "Sagepaw! Get up!" yowled Mapletail. Sagepaw blinked. "What the-" She scrambled to her paws, then bolted out to her mentor. "Sorry! I overslept." Mapletail snorted. "C'mon. Let's do some battle training; freshen up your skills." She padded out of the camp and into the sandy clearing, perfect for training, with Sagepaw following eagerly behind. Hawkpaw and Birchnose waited, crouching, at a tree trunk. "Shhhh...." Birchnose hissed in and undertone. "Wait for it....." Hawkpaw kept his eyes on the bluebird they were stalking. As the bird noticed nothing, Hawkpaw sprang. His claws grasped feathers. Hawkpaw slashed the bird's neck; blood spurted out. "Good job," Birchnose meowed. "What a fine catch. Your mother should be proud." Hawkpaw straightened up at his mentor's praise. He and Birchnose bounded off in search of more prey to feed the Clan. Sunberry licked his forepaw. "What are we doing today?" asked Tigerpaw. "You'll like it," replied the black tom. "Come." With that he jumped down from the rock he was sitting on and walked to the camp's exit. Tigerpaw ran after Sunberry. They swerved through undergrowth and dodged trees. Sunberry slid to a sudden stop at a small pool, with clear water. Tigerpaw had never been to this part of the territory before. Sunberry unsheathed his claws and looked into the depths of the water. He plunged his paw into the pool, emerging with a fish hooked into it. A quick bite to its neck and the fish lay still at Sunberry's paws. "Wow!" Tigerpaw's eyes widened. "Could you teach me how to do that?" Sunberry purred. "Sure. Hold your body so that it doesn't have a shadow over the water........"
