Ty Lee can jab those little punches faster than Mai can throw the flying daggers.

as much as I like Mai she is not as powerful as Ty Lee

I think Mai would be more powerful...Ty Lee can take away people's bending, but would she really able to harm someone more severley than that? I think Mai, especially since she uses knives, would be able to do more that that.

just because ty lee is bendable it dosen't make her better

maybe Ty Lee can take bending away (even that only for a while) Mai can make her apponmate (or whatever) not able to move without actually harm them bun only by pinning them to the wall with her knives.. Mai is the awesomest! :P

Ty Lee would easily dodge the daggers then get close to Mai and paralise her quickly. I prefer Mai but Ty Lee can also take bending away and is much more useful because most of the people they fight are benders.

Ty Lee is quick and agile, and both Azula and Mai would be totally helpless without there bending/knives. So Ty Lee wins!
