Maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic, but I love them together, especially in the book! Cosette could't have had better "Parents" (i.e. adopted father, and a mother she never really knew).

When I first saw the musical, I actually thought they would become a couple. I enjoyed the very few moments they had together.. I loved that Valjean was so willing to help her and Cosette.

I thought that too! He was so caring, exactly what Fantine deserved afer Cosette's father.

How to explain that... I'm not telling that they couldn't make a good couple- I agree that if they've met long time ago, it would be brilliant! But now when you say they could be together means for me that Vajean helped her because he had some special feelings for her. That really annoyed me in 1998 movie. The most awesome thing for me is Valjean was so good pearson- that was the reason he helped Fantine, Fauchelevent and the other people in town.That situation is beautiful because he DOESN'T love her if you know what I mean :)

yeah I see what Kelias means and Fantine seems to have given up on love since Cossette's father so I don't think she'd see valjean in that light . it still would be nice though :)

The 2 of them and Cosette would have made a wonderful family, Valjean and Fantine got on really well even though she lived in her bed and the relationship that Valjean had with his pretend daughter Cosette was awesome too so the 3 of them would be a great happy family!!!
