Kwon Yuri (Hangul: 권유리; Hanja: 權侑利 born December 5, 1989) is a South Korean idol singer, dancer, actress, promotional model, entertainer and TV presenter. She is a member of the girl group Girls' Generation.

Biography

Yuri was born in Goyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea on December 5, 1989. She auditioned at the SM Entertainment Casting System and joined the company in 2001 after finishing in Sekunde place in the 2001 SM Youth Best Dancer Contest. She then underwent training for 5 years and 11 months before her debut. She has an older brother, Kwon Hyuk-jun. One of her nicknames, "Black Pearl," reflects her skin tone, which is slightly darker than the other members of Girls' Generation.
She graduated from NeungGok High School in 2008 and is currently attending at Chung-Ang universität along with fellow group member Sooyoung.

Kwon Yuri is a member of South Korean girl group Girls Generation where she is one of the lead dancers with Hyoyeon, Yoona and Sooyoung. She also support for the vocalist of the group. She casted at SM Casting System and finishing the contest in 2001 SM Youth Best Selection Contest where she ranked at 2nd place for being Best Dancers of SM Trainees.

She had a small role in a Fernsehen segment, The King's Boyfriend, which was part of the 2005–2006 KMTV Super Junior documentary, Super Junior Show. Yuri also played a part in the KBS sitcom Unstoppable Marriage (못말리는 결혼), alongside Sooyoung. At the end of 2009, she cast for KBS2 reality Zeigen Invincible Youth (청춘불패) with her fellow member, Sunny. Because of Girls' Generation's international promotions, Yuri left the Zeigen along with Sunny and Hyuna of 4minute on June 2010.[2]
In 2012, Yuri played the female lead role Choi Anna in SBS's Fernsehen drama Fashion King. This 20-episode drama was aired on SBS from March 19, 2012 to May 22, 2012. On December 31, 2012, Yuri received the “New star, sterne Award” at SBS’s “2012 Drama Awards” for this role.[3]

She and Sooyoung sang the OST for the drama Working Mom entitled "Must!".
She also sang the theme song for Caribbean bucht with fellow members Taeyeon, Seohyun, Sunny, Jessica, Tiffany, Yoona and K-pop boy group 2PM.
In September 2012, her voice is featured on TVXQ 6th album Catch Me track song "Like A Soap".

Yuri co-hosted the Korean Musik program Show! Musik Core of MBC with fellow Girls' Generation member Tiffany, leaving after a farewell on July 31, 2010 to focus on their Japan debut.[4]
On December 25, 2010, she was also a host MC for Weihnachten Show! Musik Core with group mate Tiffany. Yuri was an MC for the 2010 MBC Gayo Daejeon Zeigen which was held on December 31 at the MBC Dream Center with Tiffany & actor Ryu Shi-won.[5] She was also the MC for the 20th Seoul Musik Awards which was held on January 20, 2011. She was also the MC for the 50th Anniversary Musik Wave konzert which was held on March 12, 2011 together with Tiffany & Nichkhun.
On August 13, 2011 she was a MC for 2011 Incheon Korean Musik Wave together with Tiffany[6] and also for K-Pop All star, sterne Live in Niigata which was held on August 20, 2011 together with Tiffany & Sooyoung.[7]
On October 11, 2011 Yuri and Tiffany return to "Show! Musik Core" as permanent MCs after a 1 Jahr and 3 months absence, leaving on January 29, 2012 to focus on her drama debut Fashion King. On November 12, 2011 she was a MC for K-POP Musik Festival in Sydney together with Tiffany.

She had an advertisement with Daniel Henney for Biotherm.[8] Later, in April 2010 she participated in another commercial for Biotherm with Tiffany and Sooyoung.[9]
In April 2010 she had a commercial for Everland's water park Caribbean bucht with fellow members Seohyun and Yoona, 2PM members Nichkhun, Taecyeon and Chansung.[10][11]
In March 2012 she was chosen as the new model of Mamonde, a cosmetic product alongside Choi Siwon of Super Junior.
Prior of her endorsing Mamonde, she is one of the model in Amore Pacific's "Share Your Umbrella Campaign" with Shin Min Ah, Lee Miyeon, Jo In Sung and her Fashion King co-star Yoo Ah In.
