"Jenny! Jeth! Over here!" Alice waved one arm over her head to try to attract the twins' attention. She was holding a big, black, expensive-looking camera in her other hand.
I leaned back on my palms, feeling the warm, green gras, grass swish all around me. It was a nice Tag and my skin casted of a couple of sparkles here and there when I moved. Jennifer and Jeth didn't sparkle at all.
Alice, as everyone knew, was all about experiances. She loved to witness ones she'd never had, and, in this case, document them as well. She was making a scrapbook for Jeth and Jennifer so no one would forget a thing about their childhood.
Now Jeth and Jennifer were playing Von the lake, oblivious to Alice oder just ignoring her; it was hard to tell. The sun made the water look crystal clear instead of the slightly murky appearance it always had, and Jeth and Jennifer were stunning in the light, making for a truly perfect shot. No wonder Alice was getting so edgy.
"Emmett?" Alice called, her high voice tight with distress. "Can Du help me, please? The sun's going to go behind a wolke soon." She glanced up at the sky where, sure enough, a black wolke was lurking.
I heard Uncle Emmett's footsteps behind me and turned. He was grinning, his gaze focusing on the twins.
"Emmett--" I began in a warning tone.
He shifted his gaze down to me, his grin as wide as ever. "Shh," he said, putting his finger to his lips. I grinned as he quickly took a few steps back, then launched himself silently over the creek, too fast to be seen Von the twins. I heard the sound of his soft landing on the damp ground of the forest a few miles away. Emmett always put too much power into it when he jumped.
Alice had her lips pressed together to keep from smiling, the camera ready in her hand.
I could hear Emmett running back towards the creek now, and in a few Sekunden he came into view, his hair windblown, the huge grin still on his face. He crept silently towards the edge of the creek, took a deep breath and then...
"ROOOOOAAARRRRRRRRRR!!!" With a terrifyingly loud bär growl he charged through the creek, spraying up water and soaking himself and the twins who were screaming, having dropped their toys in the creek. He reached the other side of the creek and stood waist deep in the water to put an arm around each of the twins so he was in the middle. All three of them looked into the camera--Jennifer and Jeth now laughing hysterically and Emmett grinning widely in between them. Alice took the picture and Emmett hopped gracefully out of the water.
"That's a wrap," he sagte cheerfully, shaking out his wet hair.
"Thanks, Em," Alice grinned. "Perfect timing, too." I glanced up and sure enough, the wolke was just beginning to cover the sun. A giant clap of thunder--louder than Emmett's bär growl--caused the twins to stop laughing and look up at the sky with wide eyes.
"C'mon, Du two," I said, scooping them both up. "Let's dry Du guys off." As we walked past Emmett the twins both recoiled slightly, giggling. Emmett ruffled both of their hair and then started to run, just begging for a game of tag. They wriggled out of my arms and started chasing Emmett around the yard, giggling nonstop.
I crossed my arms over my chest and smiled as I watched them. Emmett was their Favorit playmate, the one who was up for whatever game they wanted to play. He was like their Sekunde dad and their best friend. When I had been a little girl, Emmett had always played with me. He had always been my Favorit 'uncle'. He kept me safe. And now he was doing the same for Jeth and Jennifer. I couldn't have asked for a better friend for either of them.

"So where's Jacob today?" Dad asked, pausing his Piano playing.
The Cullens, plus Jeth, Jennifer, and me, were lounging around in the Cullens living room. Emmett had a Brewers game turned on with Rosalie in his lap; he and Jasper were watching the game intently. Rosalie had her torso turned to face Alice--they were both busy piecing together today's scrapbook page. Carlisle was doing a medical crossword puzzle and Esme was sitting at her schreibtisch pouring over her latest house design. Dad was seated at the Piano with Mom beside him.
"He insisted on an emergency pack meeting this morning." I rolled my eyes. "When we were at the bonfire last night Embry mentioned that he and some of the others had found a trail near the cottage while Jacob wasn't around."
When they heard this, the eight Vampire stopped what they were doing and stared at me with wide, yellow eyes.
"It's nothing!" I sagte quickly. "Embry sagte that the trail came close to the house and they ran away, that's it. Jacob's just being overprotective." I shrugged.
"What exactly did Embry say?" Carlisle asked leaning vorwärts-, nach vorn with a concerned look on his face. Everyone was anxious now.
"I'm sure it's nothing to worry about," I assured them. "Jacob got a little freaked is all. The Wölfe are searching the woods, and if they find anything we'll let Du know." Carlisle leaned back now, the worried look still on his face.
Slowly everyone seemed to unthaw and relax. Emmett unmuted the TV and Alice and Rosalie put the last picture on the scrapbook page, my Favorit one--the one with Jeth, Jennifer, and Emmett Von the creek this morning. Dad began to play again and Mom swayed to the Musik beside him.
Did I have a reason to worry? Were my beautiful children in danger? I glanced over at them, biting my lip. They were so young and full of life. Jennifer was examining the scrapbook now, her newest facination. Emmett was explaning to Jeth the concept of a home-run. I was so sure they were safea moment ago. But now I just wasn't sure.
