iPod Frage

I need help

I have any ipod touch that is 16Gigs and My friend has an ipod touch which is 32gigs. Hers can play Musik with out the headphones in, but mine can't.
Is this because hers has bigger Weltraum on it, oder is it a different model?. oder how do i change mine so i Can play Musik without the headphones in?

Im soooo confused!!
