Last night Shia Labeouf broke the silence of Lucasfilm, to reveal the Titel for the new Indiana Jones movie....

'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'

But what does this mean for our favourite Archaeologist/Hero? What will he be up against? Where will he be going? Most importantly... what is the 'Crystal Skull'?

Well there are actually 13 crystal skulls, all thought to be (on average) around 20,000 years old. Investigations into one of the existing crystal skulls garnered startling revelations. The skull itself had its age proven, yet the workmanship of it defies the technology of the time (and almost the technology of our time). It has been seemlessly cut from one larger crystal, but the skull itself bears no markings from its cut, suggesting it was made using metal tools. However, with the cutting and subsequent work on detail, the man hours to produce just one would have been amounted to around 300 years!

It has been sagte that each of the skull's possess magical powers and healing abilities... but where they came from appears to teilt, split opinion.

Some believe that the skulls were a gift from God to the people.

There is even a suggestion that they were created Von Aliens.

Most interestingly, it is also believed that they are the only remains left from the Lost civilisation of Atlantis, which was reputedly in contention to be Indy's object of desire for this movie. If they were to combine the skulls' mythology with Atlantis, it could prove fruitful for the movie to play on our understanding of Atlantis... and to have Indy on a quest to not only retrieve the skulls... but to prove the existence of Atlantis once and for all.

The legend of the crystal skulls has been investigated deeply Von Historians and Antropologists. Their investigations came across an ancient Indian Legend that there was 13 crystal skulls, of the Goddess of Death, and that these had been kept separate for a very good reason... but why? The fact that the skulls have been specifically kept apart suggests they possess a great power when combined (like the Power Rangers), but that is the Weiter mystery... what is that power/purpose of the skulls?

The theories vary, but are outlined below;

The skull's contain a history of Mankind, and in that sense are like the computers of the ancient world.

They are powerful healing tools.

Others believe that they can be used to look into the past, present and future ( there is a documented case of a known Archaeologist's daughter having detailed dreams of the past when sleeping near a crystal skull).

This is just the tip of a fascinating archaeological find, and with such deep mythology/history to play with, I think we're in for a great movie.

Got some Updates for Indiana Jones and the Suchen for a Decent Title, so here we go...........

O9ne of the proposed titles I identified through my soapbox was Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods (referring to Atlantis, which is long fabled to be the location of Mount Olympus... amongst other things). However, this Titel was half officially announced as THE Titel only a few months ago.... which has lead to a floß of Fan made trailers using that Titel (see the vids section of the Indy Spot).

But in todays increasingly media savvy world those cheeky creators often lead us down the wrong path,...
