I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Movie Talk: The Confident Princess VS. The Social Queen in Mirror Mirror
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Today, the NEW Mirror Mirror Movie hits theaters! Earlier in the week, I let you guys in on 5 Things I Learn About Inner Beauty from Lily Collins. At the Blogger Press Event, in Santa Monica, CA, I was able to sit down and talk to the young actress who exudes confidence and humility from her veins. No seriously. She does. It’s very rare that you see such young actresses feel confident, not in their ability, but in their passion to continue to learn, evolve, and create their ability to surpass their peers. THAT’S Lily Collins, but today I’m not here to talk about that. I’m here to talk about this Social Queen that takes the stage with our Confident Princess in Mirror Mirror. I’m here to give you the play-by-play in this game we all vanity.
Snow White (Played by Lily Collins) – As kind and generous as she is beautiful, Snow White was the apple of her late father’s eye and is beloved in the royal household by all but the Queen and her simpering minions. Surviving mistreatment and neglect to blossom into a spirited young woman gifted with her father’s courage, wisdom and love for his subjects, Snow transforms herself into a battle-ready people’s princess to win back the kingdom from the conniving Queen.
Prince Alcott (Played by Armie Hammer) – The devastatingly handsome and somewhat earnest heir to the throne of Valencia is looking for the princely adventure of a lifetime when he stumbles into the Queen’s court. The unrivalled prosperity of his realm makes the Prince catnip for the cash-strapped Queen—but he only has eyes for her lovely ward, Snow White.
Baker Margaret – Warm and kindly, Baker Margaret has been Snow White’s port in a storm since childhood. But her cozy exterior hides a fierce heart that is still loyal to the late King and she inspires the princess to take back her birthright by any means necessary.
The Seven Dwarfs – Grimm, Butcher, Wolf, Napoleon, Half Pint, Grub, and Chuckles make up the seven dwarfs who take Snow White in and teach about being a confident heroine.
The Queen (Played by Julia Roberts) – A bewitching beauty with a towering temper, the scheming Queen is actually an enchantress who keeps herself alluring with extreme beauty treatments, from bee stings and snake venom to flesh-eating worms. After usurping the throne, she bankrupts the kingdom with her extravagant ways. When the wealthy Prince Alcott fortuitously comes her way, she uses every weapon in her arsenal to beguile him.
Brighton (Played by Nathan Lane) – The Queen’s executive bootlicker, Brighton is also her favorite whipping boy. The hapless, bumbling sycophant is always ready to bear her insults and do her bidding, from extorting ruinous taxes from the people to planning the murder of her rivals.
Only because he was forced – A benevolent ruler revered throughout his kingdom and a loving father adored by his only daughter, the King is entrapped into marriage by the wicked Queen’s evil enchantments. Shortly after the wedding, he disappears, the first victim of a deadly beast that terrorizes the kingdom, and Snow White is left to fend for herself.
We begin with a Queen who is so caught up in this game of vanity that she’s willing to do ANYTHING to keep up appearances. From drastic beauty treatments to evil spells, there is nothing this ruthless socialite wouldn’t do to keep her vanity in check. She struggles to maintain confidence and power among her kingdom and feels Snow White will be her ultimate doom.
Does she sound familiar? I, myself, struggle with confidence. I, myself, feel at any moment, the things I love will be taken from me. My looks will fade, but the difference? I know that my heart will remain in tact and outshine it all.
In the midst of the struggle of vanity and power with the Queen, we meet Snow White. She’s young. She’s beautiful. She’s unsurprisingly sweet and good. She has beauty in her heart and exudes confidence to the kingdom around her. She resembles the real life Lily Collins persona, if you ask me. As the Queen attempts to “rid” the kingdom of Snow White, she meets the 7 Dwarfs who build her from the sweet, quiet, Princess into a woman who can take back the throne and reign goodness into the world.
Don’t get me wrong. The 7 Dwarfs battle with their on evil struggles, but it’s Snow White who reminds them vanity is also spelled D.O.O.M. No matter what side you’re on, Mirror Mirror gives you a glimpse of all those feelings we keep secret:
Which side are you on? Better yet… do you see yourself in this video of Social Media madness? (It’s a MUST see guys)

As a mom to an “almost teenager” I’ve really been thinking about the dating scene and how much it has changed since I was young. You have all this new technology as forms of communication and dating apps are all the rage, right? So, how do you instill Biblical values in teenagers when it comes […]
The last month, I’ve really been on a mission to make our outdoor living area a place the kids want to hang out in with their friends and a quiet place I can sit with my husband. You know what I’m talking about… one of those nights where you escape the chaos with a glass […]
Awhile back my teenage son and I were having a conversation about music. We’ve been going on a lot of road trips since the summer began and he’s wanted to play DJ while in the van. I’m okay with that. I like his music, but I noticed he ONLY has Christian songs. Don’t get me […]
