Chapter 10: The biggest surprises come in small packages
Two weeks later
“What's going on?” Lisa asked of surprise as Hugh literally dragged her out from the set and put her in the car, just to drive away saying absolutely nothing.
Lisa had no idea Hugh had been planning a big surprise for her. Yes, he was going to propose.
After he'd told Becca about it, that Tag when she'd confessed how much Lisa meant to her, Becca had insisted on doing it as soon as possible.
She'd told Billy and Charlie about it, she'd wanted to be the one to tell them. Hugh had actually thought of that as a good idea, that way the boys wouldn't think their father was out of his mind.
Not that they had anything against Lisa, just like Becca, they loved her, but Hugh had still been unsure of how they'd have react. And surprisingly, oder not, they were fine with it.
However,Hugh had started to grow worried. First, Charles had wanted a playroom, if Hugh and Lisa got married, he would sure want an apartment of his own.
And maybe that wasn't such a bad idea, but Hugh still wanted to have all his family close.
Somehow, Jo's death made him see what was really important in life, and how fast and unpredicted he could lose it all.
And he was Mehr than determined to keep Lisa in his life. No matter what.
No matter what. Hugh smirked, he would need to use that line in his vowels as well.
If Lisa accepted his proposal.
“Hugh?” Lisa turned to him, frowning, not liking the fact that she was completely unaware where they were going oder what was going on.
Hugh had thought about it all. He thought about how Charles would want out of the house pretty soon, he'd thought about William leaving as well.
And Becca could leave to, she was going to graduate that year, she could want to Bewegen somewhere once she went to college.
Hugh didn't want them to leave, and he had just a plan to make them stay, oder at least make them NOT consider leaving.
Deciding he kept Lisa anxious long enough, he spoke “You'll see”
As he tried to suppress a grin that was forming on his face, remembering the little box that awaited for them at the place Hugh was driving Lisa to. They were so close to the place Hugh was going to pop the question.
As he tried to keep focused on the road, the memories took him back to the Tag a week ago, he and Becca had gone to pick out a ring for Lisa.
It had been such a good father-daughter bonding moment. If there had been any doubt left that Rebecca hadn't wanted Lisa for her, such an awful word, step mum, it had all vanished the moment they'd picked out the ring.
Becca had gone all excited about it, saying it had been something Lisa would definitely like, and Hugh hoped, accept.
Hugh pulled over, making Lisa even Mehr confused to what was happening.
“Hugh?” She raised her voice, signaling that she couldn't take it anymore.
“Relax” Hugh smiled, his words clearly Mehr meant for himself than Lisa.
Hugh pulled up the car in front of a big gate. Then, he made a phone call, Lisa undoubtedly took as suspicious and the gate opened.
“Hugh you're really pissing me off” Lisa giggled a bit. Hugh thought he could hear a bit of anxiety in her voice. He just smiled at her, making her and himself even Mehr anxious.
They drove for a Weiter minute, and Hugh finally pulled over.
He got out of the car, and nodded to Lisa to do the same.
A huge grin formed on Hugh's face as he watched Lisa take in all of her surroundings.
They were in front of a huge house.
The Minute Hugh saw it, a Monat ago, he fell in Liebe with it.
“Hugh... please, tell me what's going on...” Lisa frowned for the umpteenth time.
“Just... lemme Zeigen Du the house” Hugh smiled at her, and taking her hand, they got inside, the door being opened for them Von a butler.
The house, could be described as nothing less than magnificent. It had eight bedrooms, a huge dining room, a playroom similar to one they had in their house only bigger, two pools outside and a huge yard with a Tennis court somewhere in the back. It was a property of some restaurant mogul, Hugh hoped, but not for too long.
Hugh couldn't help but smile at Lisa's facial expression. Her mouth kept open as a sign of amusement.
She still, Hugh hoped, had no idea what he was up to.
The butler showed them the house, and left them alone once they reached the bedroom.
Hugh showed Lisa the way in, and raising an eyebrow, questioning him, she got in.
There, on the master bed, with a note, was a little blue box.
Once Lisa saw it, her eyes immediately filled with tears.
“You...” she paused “No...” she grinned, making Hugh grin as well.
“Yes...” Hugh nodded, thinking what a conversation, and smirking a bit.
Lisa got to the bed, and picked the little box up, slowly opening it.
As she did, those tears that had been resting in her eyes began their path down her cheeks.
“I... don't know what to say” she said, as she caressed the diamond ring, still resting in its box.
“Read the note...” Hugh sagte in a low voice, evidently afraid of her answer.
Lisa opened the little ribboned note and tears started flowing again.
“I want Du beside me, no matter what” she read the last line out loud and grin forming on her face, went straight into Hugh's embrace.
“Does this house come with that ring?” she asked, laughing a bit, and Küssen him lightly on the lips.
“Is that a yes?” Hugh grinned at her, still unsure of her answer.
She nodded “No matter what”
