I am vehemently opposed to this. Remember what happened at DE RP? I was elected as "leader" and then the entire spot fell apart!

Would the Heads have special powers? Leadership roles?
Leadership, when assigned and given a title, doesn't work here, as we established on DE RP. The "leaders" are the active people whom everyone likes, respects, and trusts. We don't need to ruin that by putting a name to it. As for moderation and special powers, if anyone was angry enough to post something offensive, do you think they'd take it down simply because the Head Boy or Girl asked them to.

Finally, I know I was nominated by terhenetar, and I'm honestly not sure what to do about this. My Slytherin side is screaming at me to take it and run and win, so I could be Head Girl and get privileges, but the part of me that knows what's right is calmly warning me that this happened before and it ended badly.

If everyone else decides that we should have a Head Boy and Girl, I will run for Girl, but I won't use my "powers" if I win. I'm running as an a-political party, much like Kate did. Oh the irony of that...

This is tough. Because I think it should be more of a FOTM. But they should have vast knowledge of all the house. I have seen so many mistakes on here in different picks, it's quite ridiculous.

Also, someone who is opinionated but they are respectful to all houses. It is a rivalry, but we all love the same series and we shouldn't let our own opinions affect somethings we all have in common... A love for Harry Potter.

I'm still just as opposed though. However Cassie makes a good point, I think I'm gonna go research houses now...I did so ages ago, but a refresher might be nice, now that all the houses are here together.

So if 'yes' gets picked the most, nominate people in the forum. Then I'll make a pick of all the girls. Plus, same for the boys. And then you pick which ones you want for Head Boy/Girl.

Obviously...I knew how the technical aspect would work.

But what about how people react to it? Will the Heads have privileges such as inter common room postings? Will they be moderators? Will they be "leaders"?

I'm more interested in the emotional aspect right now. Technical is easy.

Here's a good scenario using misc. names:

Lynn and Joseph are nominated for Boy and Girl, amongst others.
In the voting process, they each win by a large margin.
They then happily start chatting and moderating and everyone accepts what they say.

Bad scenario:
Lots of people are nominated, included Lynn and Joseph.
During the voting, they win by 10%, so people are angry that they won on minority.
When the voting is over, Lynn and Joseph recognize that they aren't really the Heads and the entire thing is forgotten, but tension remains on the spot.

Or even WORSE:

Lynn and Joseph attempt to control everything because they were elected as the Heads. No one likes them, and we try to kick them out, but it doesn't work. They become Jasons.

Obviously there are other things that could happen, but these are the basics. I think in this place, everyone is reasonable and we'd have a Scenario 1 thing going on, but I think we should consider the others as well.

So how about having only the privilage to post in all House forums? There is hardly any need for moderators.

What came to my mind when I saw nominations was to choose two people and give them these titles to make our spot resemble Hogwarts more, but with no special priviliges. I wouldn't like to see two categories of users, as it would probably cause the situations Merribelle described.

Too late. Best and I were elected Head Girl, and Paul was elected Head Boy. We collectively abolished the positions and now we are back to being equal. As I have wanted from the start.
