It saddens me that anyone would pick the movies over the books :/

books are much more awsum then the movies.....

they are both great but I like movies a little better

The advantage of making the books into movies is that it brings new people into the world of Harry Potter, and makes it more popular. The disadvantage is that when you meet a so called 'fan', there is a much lesser chance that they are actually a true fan and know anything about the books. This is the source of much frustration for true fans, as these people claim to like Harry Potter when they have never even read it. This happens many times with other books adapted into films, and as a faithful Lord of the Rings fan who reads the books regularly, can write in Dwarvish runes, and edits the LOTR wiki, it often annoys me when people say how much they love the Lord of the Rings but have not even been bothered to pick up the book. While I may not have quite as much enthusiasm for Harry Potter (although I do count myself a fan), I can sympathise with those who feel sad at the way the books are disregarded even though they are the source of the magic.

As for the HP films, I was never particularly fond of the films, especially the earlier ones, and I think they only became good from the Half Blood Prince onwards.

I mean: do you prefer Harry James Potter in books or in movies.

Oh ... Well still the books, I think he is more real in the books.

They miss too much out of the films.

The books will always come first for me. Imagination beats films anyday.
