I really don't think that Snape's interest in potions spawned from his apparent 'love' for Lily (I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT SNAPE WAS IN LOVE WITH LILY). If it was, I don't think Snape would have continued to be Potions master because the subject would probably remind him of Lily; although he needed the protection Hogwarts gave him and he tried to be DADA professor anyway

I think its possible that Snape loved Lily, but honestly, probably not. She was a "Mudblood." He called her that himself. He wanted to be pure. I like the theory (in a way, its cute- Beauty and the Geek). I think he was just good at Potions.

I have to disagree with piperpayton. Though I don't and will never ship Lily/Snape, I love their story.

It brings so much depth to both characters. It was a nice sub-plot. She ended up with James, what more do you want? lol

And as for Potions class, I'm sure Snape's life wasn't revolved around Lily.

Although I'm not a Lily/Snape shipper, I think its unbelievably sweet how much he loved her. But I think the fact that Snape loved potions had very little to do with her.

I dont think so, its said that both Snape and Lily were both talented in Potions but Snape was in a whole new league in his own (yes i love snape! LOL one of my fave characters!!), duckgoddess got a point there, about snape having feeling secure in his job occupation but lets think about it? did ever really have security?

I dont think so....not really...he was in knee deep water with being a Triple Agent Voldemorte's/Order of the Phoenix, helping keeping harry alive and hating him all the same/being reminded of Lily's preference for another man? The guy had a bad break half due to his own fault and other outta of destiny, i reckon...
