One of the things I love most about the way that families were portrayed in the books/movies is the way that money figured into their familial relationships. The Malfoys (for example) had more money then they knew what to do with, but they weren't a happy family. It was mostly just the requisite respect, at least until Narcissa showed the first shred of humanity within the family when she showed genuine concern over the fate of her son. The Weasleys had less money then they could comfortably survive on, but you could see that they all loved each other to varying degrees (Percy) and it didn't really matter that they didn't have money. Yes, the lack thereof became important at various points of the story, but they didn't really need money. They had what truly mattered.

I think if he did accept the MoM job, he wouldn't be happy, and the Weasley family is just too much about that! They wouldn't stand for their father being unhappy just to earn a few more galleons. :D

It was not selfish at all.

why is he selfish? in what way? he's the most amazing, brave, loyal, honest man in the story!
