Old Artikel is old.

"It's difficult to imagine wanting to help your best friend defeat Voldemort when Du know he'll be celebrating afterwards Von casting 'Disapearro Clothesimo' on your sister."

"You might think this is harmless fantasy, until Du realize that every young Harry Potter Fan with a troubled Home life spends his oder her days waiting up for goblins to carry them off to a land where wizards don't come Home drunk and yell at witches all night."

Ahahaha, again, this is why I Liebe Cracked.

Oh, and I agree with the article.

The stupid thing about this Artikel is that Disappearro Clothesimo isn't a Harry Potter spell. Therefore Voldemort won't cast it. And the fact that I have a troubled life yet I don't wait for goblins to carry me off to the wizarding world. Also, another wrong thing is that, goblins DON'T carry Du to the wizarding world. The Hogwarts Express does.

oh and #3 bothered me-- Du allowed to draw inspiration from history

most writers do borrow themes

Shakespeare's The tragedy of Julius Caesar

even twilight where Du can find a lot of parallels to Romeo and Juliet

Is the fourth book fine for younger children, though? I mean, I read it when I was six and look how screwed-up I turned out!

Okay, I only read numbers three and one, but...

Three: Yeah, Voldemort is supposed to be very similar to Hitler. But did Du notice that Voldemort is the BAD GUY? Voldemort isn't the hero; he's the main antagonist, and an extremely evil one at that. Just because we can feel bad for him because of his horrid childhood doesn't mean we think what he does is okay. Why do Du think the whole story exists? Because they have to STOP Voldemort.

One: There's actually a very good reason Harry is sent Home to the Dursleys every summer. If he weren't, he would be hunted down and killed Von Voldemort quickly with no one there to help him. So would Du rather Harry spend a few months of somewhat unpleasantness? oder would Du rather he gets himself murdered, then Voldemort succeeds in taking over the wizarding world and killing off all Muggle-borns like the Holocaust all over again? Make your pick.

Obviously, the people who wrote this Artikel haven't read the books. They've obviously only watched the movies, because even the least competent readers would understand the above points I've made.

I agree with what Du said, but the Artikel isn't really supposed to be taken seriously. I mean, it's Cracked, haha. It was just supposed to be a funny look at why it wouldn't be good for kids. That site never does a serious article.

You´re both right :) And another reason why Harry has to go back to the Dursleys every summer is explained in OotP. Dumbledore sagte there in the end that the Liebe of Harrys mother who died for him protects him against Voldemort but only as long as he lives in one house with her sister.

I can see what they're getting at, but I'm afraid I don't entirely agree with everything in it.

I agree that the book does have some themes in it that are inappropriate for children (death, racism, etc) but the whole point of the series is overcoming the inequalities and unpleasantness of life, and learning to be happy. :)

As a matter of fact, the scene in DH where Harry finds out he has to give himself up actually helped me overcome my fear of death. I would just re-read the passage and see how Merida - Legende der Highlands he was and I would feel better!!

It was....comforting. :)
