Petalflight was out hunting. She was hungry, and she knew she had to feed the Clan first, but couldn't resist eating the rabbit she caught first.
Once she had finished, she paced through the forest. It was leaf-bare, and not an easy one.
She scented a maus so took the weight off her feet hoping the maus hadn't sensed she was there yet. She saw the maus come out of a rabbit burrow. Petalflight was getting ready to pounce when she caught the scent of badger. It wasn't long after she caught the scent that she noticed the dachs set. She tried to ignore it and turned her attention back to the mouse.
She sprang, grabbing it in her jaws and finishing it off quickly.
But a sharp pain thrashed up one of Petalflight's hind legs. She turned to see a badger. It lunged at her again but this time she dodged, dropping the mouse.
She tried to run but she felt another bite, surging pain through her side.
Another bite to the head and she knew it was over, and Petalflight fell to the ground.
Her chest heaved up and down slowly and the dachs bit her once more, this time on the throat and she felt a pang of agony before her eyes closed and it was all over.
