Mini-Album Review: Holler (Girls' Generation-TTS)

*Disclaimer: Solely my opinion. Just saying. Don't hate, since I'm won't even bother anyways, and don't tell me to listen to this particular song more, since I probably will only download one oder two songs anyway.*

I really have no words for this mini-album... and I'm not saying that I'm blown away.

1. Holler

The Titel track of the song that seemed somewhat promising due to its Musik video Vorschau yesterday, since all the glitz and glamour seemed to resemble the masterpiece that was Twinkle. But, alas, it's like every SM track that's used for promotions: upbeat with a repetitive chorus. It's not a bad song, and it's definitely not the worst song in the mini, but to me, it was really forgettable.

2. Adrenaline

Well, I find it better than the Titel track. It has a nice beat, and I like the whole jazzy feel to it. My Favorit part is the pre-chorus leading up to the very repetitive chorus, which is the only thing that I didn't like. Overall, one of the Mehr decent tracks.

3. Whisper

I hate this song. End of story.
It reminds me too much of Back Hug, which I also hated, since it's just another generic and sappy Liebe ballad.
I liked Tiffany's parts though. I found that I liked her parts way Mehr than anyone else in this song, and maybe in this whole mini album.

4. Stay

Not that bad, but still pretty forgettable. Tiffany still can't rap though, and the only part I actually looked vorwärts-, nach vorn to was the dubstep breakdown during the chorus with Taeyeon.

5. Only U

Also one of the Mehr decent tracks on the mini, along with Adrenaline, and it seems like it's the Fan Favorit from the entire mini. It reminds me of Baby Steps, which was my Sekunde Favorit song on Twinkle. They sound way better on this ballad than in Whisper, and Seohyun actually has potential in songwriting, since from what everyone is saying, she wrote the song, so I also liked that.

6. EYES

People have called this Problem 2.0, and I can see and hear exactly why they would say that: Because it actually does sound like Problem. No matter how many Fans ask why it's nicknamed that, they can't deny that the verses sound like the same melody from Problem. But, anyways, I actually think it's one of the Mehr decent songs on the album, since there's not much to compare it to anyways.

My insgesamt Opinion: After hearing Whisper a few days ago, I knew that this comeback wouldn't be as stellar as Twinkle, and I was right. The album was okay at best, but I'll still support them through promotions anyway. I'd say that the Kürzlich Mr. Mr. comeback is pretty equal compared with this.

Recommendations: Adrenaline, Only U, EYES (if Du can get over the fact that it sounds like Problem)

Least Favorit Song: Whisper

DaniMF The word that I'm looking for is, probably, bad. Just it, bad album. It has nothing to be replayed twice.

snsdlover4ever ^To each his own, I guess. I was indirectly stating that this mini album was bad, since I even said that Mr. Mr. is equal, which we all know was SNSD's worst release. There are some decent songs on the album though, but overall, it was a mess.

DaniMF ^ It depends on tastes, I actually liked the song Mr Mr, but I absolutely hate Back Hug. I haven't replayed Europa, Goodbye and Wait a Minute after that. The only song I actually liked is Soul, a remake of a chinese song. It's actually sad.

snsdlover4ever ^Yep. I've actually never replayed or downloaded any of the songs from the Mr. Mr. mini, except for Soul and Goodbye, which I got bored over. The only one I can remember from the Holler mini album is Adrenaline, so I think that's the only song that I really like.

sandra311 The album was okay, nothing more. The only songs I really like are Only U and Adrenaline, the rest of the songs are not memorable. Okay maybe Holler because of the refrain but that's it. So I totally agree with your article and I also don't like Whisper , I thought that I'm the only one who don't like this song

Tippany The album is alright, I actually enjoy 2 or 3 songs from there, but I expected way more from them though. And I couldn't agree more on the first part, it's just another same old type of songs, couldn't they afford to hire a better producer? Not to say Holler isn't even original...and as always SM chose the wrong title track.

Tiagih2 I wouldn't buy the album it feels like a attempt to branch out musically and conceptually into territory TTS don't do.

Most of the songs aren't really that memorable, and glad to know that someone else doesn't like Whisper. ^^Honestly, I don't think that SM would ever hire another producer, so long as the songs that they write don't become as much of a success in Korea. SM usually chooses the one that they consider "catchy" and the song that they can actually dance with to appeal more to the audiences, so I wasn't surprised by their decision anyways. ^Yeah, I never expected them to do something that sounded this funky, and with Tiffany doing "raps" in their songs, I think SM was trying to appeal to a larger audience by changing a bit of their sound.

Yuna1331 I agree! Adrenaline and Only U are the only good songs in the album. Holler's refrain was good. But i'm pretty sure i'll forget it next week. I really don't like whisper! I'm a fan

Gretulee As someone said, you can recognize SM Ent songs by hearing same word 1000 times. True haha This album is definitely not better than Twinkle, but I like Adrenaline, Only U (Seohyun unni did well) I think I just really appreciate their hard work on choreography for almost all songs and for trying their best, who knows, maybe they don't like 'Holler' song, too, but, ofc, they can't show it to us I liked MV, It's so TTS style: girly, colorful and girls look stunning Also I think that some bad songs get in your head more than good one's hahaha P.S. I thought everyone at least would be happy that Fany don't have high note, but no one even realised it haha

DaniMF ^I would prefer her high note, she actually did great in the Mr Mr live performances, than the rap part.

Gretulee Well, it's your preference, but I loved her rap part, it suits her, high note's, too. and yeah she did great, sad, not many thinks like that (in this club)
