Did Du have any reservations working for a filmmaker like Russ Meyer in independent films? (Coolbert)
No, I had no reservations about working with Russ. He had his rather strange attitudes about certain things I thought, but I got along with him quite well all in all. I noticed a book about Russ is out. The Autor interviewed me a couple of years ago, and sure enough he does quote me here and there.
What other duties did Russ bestow on Du besides acting, on the films Du worked on together? (Coolbert)
On the film "Vixen" I also did the stills which appeared in I believe the 2nd issue of "Penthouse" magazine.
When we first talked Von phone Du told me about the incident where Russ punched a cabinet & fired off his gun. I tried getting it all down, but missed some things. The story was very interesting & I'd like to share it with the members of my group. Not to be a bother, but could Du tell it again. Thanks.
Well as I recall the incident the following occurred. A fellow Von the name of George Costello and I believe Stuart Lancaster had decided that Erica Gavin could easily become a big movie star. Both of them were working and on the set during the filming of "Vixen". I'm not a hundred percent sure if Stuart was there. They wanted to be Erica's manager. Russ who was extremely covetous of his Schauspielerinnen became aware of this situation and became extremely upset. He may have sagte something to George, that I don't know. But in any case he blew his top, hit the cabinets, Walked out onto the porch and fired his gun at least once if not several times into the air. I along with a couple of the other actors were up stream from the kabine when the shots were fired. I remember thinking " Oh my God, he's shot George". Luckily of course this was not the case. From that Tag forth and after the completion of the filming of "Vixen", Russ never spoke to George again. I believe George's assignment on the film was as assistant director. Jim Ryan, who you've spoken to might have even Mehr details, for he also was there.
You appeared in 2 episodes of the original star, sterne Trek series. What was it like to work with William Shatner? (from selphiealmasy)
I had very little contact with him. Just for a short period of time during the filming of "Mirror, Mirror. The only thing I really remember is he didn't want me to throw the schlagen, punsch as he exited the elevator. He was afraid that I might actually hit him in my trying to make it look good. So we had a stunt man throw the punch. I did run into him a couple of years later while he was filming a movie. Went up to him and reminded him that we had worked together several years earlier and he was very cordial. Of course I might of had a completely different point of view if I had been around him every Tag for two oder three years.
