@Animeanimal: If you like that pairing then allow me to recommend a good fanfic, it's on fanfic.net and it's called "The Sands of Ishvar" basically it's what would happen if Ed, Al, and Riza died. The end result being that Roy and Winry would get together.

Although I must ask why you dislike EdWin so much?

I am genuinely interested to hear why someone wouldn't like EdWin, though. Beyond the whole "cliche-bickering-best-friends-romanc­e isn't my cup of tea" reason, I honestly can't think of any real ones...or at least, ones that don't involve stuff like "OMG CUZ YAOI IZ LIEK SO MUCH BETTERRR AND WINRY IS SUCH A BITCH N I HATE HER OKKKK AND UR A HOMOPHOBE ROY H8TR IF U DISAGREE SO THERE!!!11" >.<

I'm well aware that not all yaoi fans are like that but DANG, I'VE RUN INTO FAR TOO MANY OF THEM. (Though a lot of the yaoi fans in this spot are very sweet. I'll be the first to say it.) =)

@Dearheart - From what I've seen within the fandom, it seems that some people dislikes the whole "Childhood Friend Romance" trope, or they simply can't picture Ed and Winry in a romantic relationship. I personally love the EdWin pairing, and I honestly can't imagine Ed and Winry with anyone but each other (in the manga at least), but not every person is going to see them exactly the same way. Everybody’s mind works differently so everybody’s going to interpret things their own way, and even though you, me, and even Arakawa thinks Ed and Winry are wonderful together, you can’t say that for everyone. (Well, I'm sure you already know this, but I just wanted to get my point across.) :)

I guess the thing I can't wrap my brain around is how people can ignore all the obvious hints throughout the manga...like when Winry notices how much Ed's grown and matured as person, and admits to herself that she loves him. Or how Ed freaks out and gets all embarrassed whenever someone asks if they're "together". That isn't "subtext" where you can interpret it any way you want; that's TEXT. XD It's hardcore proof that there IS attraction between them.

I mean, people are free to dislike the pairing and prefer them in a brother/sister way, and I respect that. Everyone's tastes are different, of course; but honestly...who else did they think he was REALISTICALLY going to end up with? (Last time I looked, people in a "sibling relationship" don't act like that around each other!)

I guess what I'm trying to say is...love or hate whatever pairing you want. But respect the original story. Don't act like the manga and the evidence in it doesn't exist. That's just...kinda rude to the original creator, y'know? Meh, maybe that's just me...I'll shut up now... /ramble

No, you are not the only one; Ed and Winry's mutual feelings was implied with the subtlety of an anvil on head, but some people seemed genuinely surprised when EdWin became officially canon, after the final chapter was released. I'm not sure how one could miss all these not-so-subtle hints of growing romantic feelings throughout the manga, but maybe, if your mind is so wrapped up in the thought that Ed and Winry should be Like Brother And Sister (for example), then it would actually be possible to miss or possibly ignore all the obvious hints the manga gave us.

I agree, it's completely fine not to like the canon pairing, but if people are still going on about how Edward and Winry are like siblings or whatever, even after it was shown they married and had kids... well. Dearheart: I agree, most people I find only hate EdWin because of RoyEd, kinda stupid if you ask me. To hate a pairing just because it messes with another pairing. I also think that's why some people hate Brotherhood, because they think it didn't have RoyEd in it. The first season didn't even have RoyEd, why should Brotherhood have it? XD

Contrary to what you might think....I am NOT a Crazed fangirl. I just respect love at the highest level and I actually am into ALOT of heterosexual couples but.....not EdWin. Why? Well i can tell you that the cliche answer of the "brother/sister bond" is one; then again who said cliche was a "bad" thing? But there is just something else i dont find pleasing about these two. I guess its just one of those things that you CANT wrap your head around....at least for me.

Naruto, no offense taken at all! But I do find that very...strange. Why is EdWin creepy to you? They aren't related, they're the same age, they're best friends with a long history together...but it's still somehow "creepy"? Huh. Usually people dislike it 'cause it's so normal and "boring" and NON-creepy. XD

I'm not making fun at you at all; I just find that incredibly interesting. That's the first time I've heard someone say that as a reason to dislike EdWin...

I don't really get it, honestly, but fair enough. xD Actually, even though I support EdWin in the manga, I've always thought of Winry like a sister figure to Ed and Al in the 2003 anime (even if it's still implied she might feel something for Edward and visa versa); this may be because the characters differs some from their manga and Brotherhood counterparts.

its not that its normal, its that the reasons that some people ship them is just plain wierd. it seems people ship them for their FRIENDSHIP. i just like edroy, because roy trully cares about Ed, and that relationship seems much more stronger that Edwin's. to me. its not because its normal, or anything.

Roy and Ed didn't get married, Ed and Winry did~
