Misinformed views should be discredited, feminist positioning or otherwise.

Some people are just misinformed through no fault of their own, so no I wouldn't discredit them as such, but like it's already been said I do think that misinformed views should at least be challenged. I'm happy to give all self-proclaimed feminists a chance, but I do think any misconceptions should be corrected, and then they can figure out their views once they know the facts.

^ P much agreed.

There are only some views I totally discredit, like the idea that feminism is hating men or the purposeful or accidental exclusion of queer / nonwhite / disabled etc. women from mainstream feminism, but all feminists are self-proclaimed feminists and for the most part there's no reason to discredit them even if they're underinformed or misinformed. People also just have different opinions about feminism and gender so in some cases there's no right or wrong answer to a question.

tamore: So when you say "People also just have different opinions about feminism and gender so in some cases there's no right or wrong answer to a question." Does that mean you think all opinions about feminism should be respected then if they are not right or wrong?

tamore, As I said in the other poll, I was just trying to learn. I thought you made good points and I was just trying to futher understand your logic as you seemed to have a better grasp on the politics of feminism than I do. I am sorry that I thought you would want to help me understand feminism more by giving me your details. I didn't think it was a problem and I thought you wouldn't mind enlightening me at all. It would only help feminism as I am trying to build up my knowledge so I am not as caught off-guard in the future when talking to people who don't believe feminism is inclusive to all women and make some legitimate points that are hard for me to argue. I didn't think this would be a problem, I thought you'd want to help but I obviously misread you and apologize.

If you look in the forums, you will see that I actually asked most of these questions in a forum post "Female Unity?" and have been proactively seeking detailed answers to these questions. I have only gotten 1 response but I am fortunate that the responder does seem more open to my inquisitive nature. So again, I apologize to you that I valued your opinion so much and wanted to hear it in detail as that was never meant to offend you and I was just trying to soak up all of the knowledge here as you seemed so confident and sure of what you were saying which I respected and wanted to explore so I could have that same confidence in my arguments.
