I do it all the time.

Why would it not be okay?

I don't understand why that would be an issue. Just like fanart is an image category, fanfiction is an article category. The only time I'd have an issue is if the fanfic was stolen from someone else. Anything posted as an article should be that user's original work. 'Copy/Paste' is not ok.

I don't care for the copy/paste thing either.

I always do it and it's acceptable of course.

Perfectly acceptable, and I've read some pretty good fanfics on here too. I'm considering putting some of my own fanfics on here someday.

It's a shame that someone voted "it depends" but didn't leave a comment. That could mean anything, and they haven't really expressed what it depends on; I'd have been interested to hear their opinions. They might have brought up some good points we hadn't thought about.

Same with someone voting against fanfiction on the website. Those of us who have commented all seem to be on the same page, but I'm wondering if there's some reason some people dislike putting fanfiction on this site?

I do agree with fanfly though, and wonder if that's why some people don't like it? If someone does a copy and paste of someone else's work (and to make it worse, does not give credit) then I can see the issue. Just curious that there's another reason people don't like it though!

My guess is that those who voted "should not be done" thought the question was about posting other people's fanfictions as articles (or they just hate fanfiction). Similarly with "it depends", it would depend on whether the posting person wrote it or not.

Posting their own fan fiction is fine, even if it's something they've also posted elsewhere. Copying and pasting someone else's work is not.
