Sometimes there is subtext in a story which you might not intend or even notice until a reader points it out. Other times they could point out parallels or accidental foreshadowing which you hadn't noticed.

This is kind of hard for me to answer because I firmly believe that literature of all kids is up for interpretation. Sometimes readers will simply see things in a different way than you have intended. But I went with no because at the end of the day I think that the author knows their story best and so their interpretation is, for lack of better phrasing, the right one.
But as I said, interpretation is very important and should be taken seriously.

A prime example is My Immortal. The author writes all kinds of ridiculous things without even realizing it, such as Malfoy stepping out of the flying car while it’s still in the air.
