Sometimes there is subtext in a story which you might not intend or even notice until a reader points it out. Other times they could point out parallels or accidental foreshadowing which you hadn't noticed.

This is kind of hard for me to answer because I firmly believe that literature of all kids is up for interpretation. Sometimes readers will simply see things in a different way than you have intended. But I went with no because at the end of the day I think that the author knows their story best and so their interpretation is, for lack of better phrasing, the right one.
But as I said, interpretation is very important and should be taken seriously.
